Happy Tuesday! I have something today which I think you will either love or hate – no in-between, and it’s called OPI Pop Culture Collection.
The OPI Pop Culture Collection features six new shades and (I believe) comes out in stores around June 1st. These are a special formula and have a “bubble-like three-dimensional effect” to make nails look like “pop” art.
Upon first glance from the promo pics I thought these would be cremes, but actually they all have a slight shimmer to them. The instructions are to apply them over bare nails (no base coat) use two coats, and do not apply a top coat.
Pink Bubbly is a bright pink with purple shimmer. This is two coats.
Hate to Burst Your Bubble is a warm-toned yellow with yellow shimmer. This is two coats.
OPI Pops! is a bright red with pink shimmer. This is two coats.
Days of Pop is a sky blue with teal shimmer. This is three thin coats as two didn’t cover as well.
Pop Star is a light lavender with blue shimmer. This is two coats.
Bumpy Road Ahead is a deep blue with lighter blue shimmer. This is two coats. Here’s a macro of what the “bubbles” actually look like. It’s basically a textured polish with little round bumps in various sizes. You can definitely feel them on the nail and if you cannot stand having a texture on your nails, you will hate these!
Ok so what are my personal thoughts on these? They are pretty weird, and I like some textured polish. To me they look more like nail polish gone wrong. Like I accidentally used a really old polish and it got bubbles in it. A few of them do look better than others though, in my opinion, and they are Pink Bubbly, OPI Pops! and Days of Pop.
You can find the OPI Pop Culture Collection here now and they are $5.75 each or all six shades for $33.00.
What do you think, love them or hate them?
