I recently had the pleasure of trying out some of the new(ish) MakeupGeek Foiled Eyeshadow shades and let me tell you, I am super impressed with them.
MakeupGeek Foiled Eyeshadow comes in 29 different shades. What makes these different from “regular” eyeshadow is that they have a cream to powder texture. They are really silky and smooth, and have a very opaque metallic finish. I had heard really good things about the saturation of these, so I decided to swatch them without a primer to see how they were. They are excellent! Mind you 99% of the time I HAVE to swatch shadows with primer, otherwise they just do not look all that impressive. These do. Of course using a primer helps with the creasing issue, so when wearing them on my eyes, I would always use a primer.
Nostalgic is a light bubblegum pink.
Limelight is a lime green.
Plot Twist is a medium periwinkle with pink shift.
Take Two is a medium olive green.
Curtain Call is an intense cranberry red.
WOW. Really, I am so happy with the coverage and texture of these. I have swatched a ton of MakeupGeek products, including many eyeshadows of theirs in the past, and somehow I keep forgetting how good they are! I always think of my favorite brands as the mainstream ones like Urban Decay, MAC and Too Faced, but really these are just as good (actually better) than a lot of the eyeshadows those brands come out with. In particular, MAC has not been very impressive at all lately with their shadow texture and pigmentation. These are much better, and of course way less expensive. I highly recommend them if you love a metallic finish. And hey, if you don’t like a metallic finish, check out my other reviews here and here of their other eyeshadows which are also excellent.
You can find the MakeupGeek Foiled Eyeshadow shades on their site here and they are $10.00 each.
