Hello and a happy, blustery Tuesday to you! Well it’s blustery here anyway. It’s been raining a ton for the last 3 days or so, lots of flooding in areas around the bay. But we definitely needed it! Parker doesn’t think so though. 😉
Today I have the essie Winter 2016 Collection, which is a six-piece collection of new shades in cremes, shimmers and metallics. Most of these had a pretty good formula with just two coats. A couple had some slight unevenness to them even with three. Let’s dig in!
Go With The Flowy is a light dove grey with silvery shimmer. This one, even with three thin coats didn’t completely cover my nails (mainly the heavily ridged ones).
Oh Behave! is a light peach with frosty peach shimmer. This is the other one which needed three coats, but it covered more evenly than Go With The Flow did. Pretty shade under certain lighting and it doesn’t *really* have that gross frosty look from the 80’s.
Getting Groovy is a C3PO metallic. Yes, I have been calling gold shades like this C3PO for oh, around 6 or 7 years now because they remind me of him so much. This was two coats, very smooth and even.
Party On A Platform is a medium/deep red creme. This was two coats. Nothing exciting really, been there, done that.
Satin Sister (why do I keep wanting to type “Satan Sister”?) is a dark peacock blue creme. I really like this one! It’s very creamy and saturated and covered perfectly with two coats.
Ready To Boa is a dark mahogany with heavy red shimmer. Ohhhhhh yes, this is my kind of lit-from-within shade. Gorgeous and two perfect coats.
There were some here I didn’t particularly love, either because of the formula or maybe the color wasn’t that interesting, but there are a few keepers as well. My favorite shades are Satin Sister and Ready To Boa. I have a like/hate with Oh Behave! It’s really pretty, but also kind of dated looking and only looks that amazingly shimmery under a flash or very bright lighting. Go With The Flowy would have been better to me if it covered more evenly. Party On A Platform and Getting Groovy had good formulas, but definitely aren’t unique shades.
You can find the essie Winter 2016 Collection on their site and where ever essie is sold.
