The essie fall 2016 collection took inspiration from the streets of Tokyo to create the six new creme shades you see here.
The shades in this collection are named after some of the foods and fashions of the city, as well as the autumnal colors. I found it particularly refreshing to see some colors in here I wouldn’t normally associate with a fall collection. Some of these look downright spring-like!
As far as formula, everything was really good. Every single one of these covered really nicely with just two coats. Gotta love that!
Go Go Geisha is a dusty antique pink. A kind of unusual pink and I really like it!
Now and Zen is a pale grey with hints of sage green.
Udon Know Me is a dusty light blue.
Playing Koi is a deep rusty orange. This one looks more orange-y than red in person.
Maki Me Happy is a dark berry red.
Kimono Over is a dark plum. In person this is definitely a purple, not black-looking.
I like this collection a lot not only because of the first three kind of unexpected shades, but because the formula was just so darn good. My personal favorite colors are Go Go Geisha (which surprises me), Now and Zen, Udon Know Me and Kimono Over. I just really love the muted, dusty effect of those first three lighter shades, it makes them more interesting to me. These are also very shiny, even without a top coat (but of course you should always use a top coat to help them last longer!)
You can find these on their site and in stores now, and they are $9.00 each.
Which of these colors might you be sporting this fall?
