Hello! I hope you had a great long weekend if you are in the US!
Recently I came across the new Maybelline Master Precise Skinny Gel Pencil at CVS and since it intrigued me, I picked it up in shade Refined Charcoal.
This is an automatic pencil that has a very skinny tip for precise lining. It has a 1.8mm micro tip and a waterproof gel formula that is supposed to wear for up to 24 hours. It currently comes in shades Defining Black, Sharp Brown and Refined Charcoal.
Refined Charcoal is a medium/deep grey with slight shimmer.
Ok a couple of things. First of all I love a grey liner, I wear it way more than black. I wasn’t aware this had a shimmery finish, so that disappointed me a bit. Plus it’s not as dark a grey as I had hoped. And then the tip irked me, which really isn’t a “tip” at all but more of a blunt stub.
In the instructions they say to twist it clockwise twice to line each eye. I feel like I twisted like 3 times per eye. I wound up using a lot of product per eye, it felt like. I didn’t have any problems with it breaking off or anything though. It applied pretty smoothly and even though it has some shimmer to it, it didn’t bother my eyes at all.
It definitely isn’t waterproof at all on me though. Within 5 minutes it already had transferred to my lower waterline, which I don’t really mind, but then after a couple hours it was smearing and coming off. I would say it lasted maybe 4-5 hours on me and still looked ok, then it was half gone and I felt like I needed to reapply/fix it.
Boo. Overall this was a fail for me mainly because I feel like it would get used up very quickly and it smudged too quickly.
This is available at drugstores and Ulta now, and I believe it was $7.99 for 0.0035 oz.
Have you tried this or want to?
