As you have probably heard by now, essie Starry Starry Night was recently re-released and from what I have heard, it has just a slightly different formula than the original.
Now I never had the original so I can’t really compare it, but I’ve read this is just slightly darker and a little less “jelly-like”. Also the original had a “diamond dust” glitter which was smaller and finer than the glitter in this version. The new bottle comes with a gold diamond design on the cap.
Starry Starry Night has a deep blue base and small silver and hexagonal glitter pieces, which look both silver and blue.
So for me this is one of those instances where the hype built it up so much that the actual polish was a disappointment. Maybe it’s also because there are just so many amazing nail polishes out there now, and there weren’t that many brands doing these kind of shades when this first came out. Whatever the reason, I am underwhelmed by this. I needed three coats to get it to cover completely evenly, and it seems like the glitter sunk into the polish a bit, making it appear less glittery and more lumpy. It has a smooth finish, but the pretty shimmery glitter just looks kind of hidden to my eye.
I believe this is only out for a limited time and I found it at Target, but it’s also available at Ulta, Amazon, etc.
Are you in love with this version or are you passing?
