MAC Dark Desires for Fall 2015 features dark, rich colors inspired by nighttime mystery. And for good measure I also threw in the new MAC Fluidline Pen in Privet from the new Fluidity collection in this post because it’s awesome!
Dark Desires, which goes on sale December 3rd (in North America) includes four Lipsticks, six Into The Well Eye Shadows, four Kohl Power Eye Pencils, two Haute & Naughty Mascaras, one Kohl Fluidline Eye Liner, three MAC Studio Eye Glosses and two Nail Lacquers.
Erogenous Zone is a violet with multicolored glitter.
Spank Me is a black with multicolored glitter.
Ok honestly this stuff is really cool to look at and play with but I cannot imagine putting in on my eyes! It’s sticky, shiny and somewhat gloopy, and I assume would crease in about 0.3 seconds on me. It would look really cool for like a magazine spread or photo shoot, but I can’t see anyone really wearing it.
Dark Desires is a blackened eggplant matte.
What’s Your Fantasy is a black with multicolored shimmer.
Beg For It is a black matte.
The matte shades here were a wee bit on the chalky side but I gotta say, SO MUCH better than the dreaded Carbon eyeshadow (which drives me nuts.) What’s Your Fantasy was very pigmented and this is just one swipe.
Privet is a medium sea green matte.
Loving this one so much! It flows really nicely and easily without tugging, it’s pigmented and I love this particular shade of green. You can make either a thin or thicker line and it dries quickly.
Haute & Naughty Too Black is black.
I don’t have all the exact specifics on this, but I *think* the “Too Black” one compared to the regular “Black” one is supposed to be even blacker. I can’t compare them because my old tube of the original Haute & Naughty Mascara is long gone, but this one has the same two brushes as the original. One brush for thickening and one more for lengthening. I like it!
Unzipped is a dark blackened green creme.
Ok the deal is this. It basically looks black in any kind of indirect or low lighting situation. It’s extremely, blackened, but the formula was fantastic with two coats.
6-Inch Stilettos is a dark blackened blue creme.
This one looks even more black than Unzipped does, but again with a really great formula and just two coats. I’m SO glad they improved their nail lacquer formula.
Ring My Bell is a pale neutral glaze.
Boyfriend Stealer is a blackened plum cremesheen.
Black Night is a black with red and gold pearl cremesheen.
For me I’m not loving any of these shades, but I think they would look better on a different skin tone. Ring My Bell is a very pale shade on me even with a ton of coats. Boyfriend Stealer was the most uneven one even with multiple attempts at evening it out. Black Night is pretty darn cool, it’s super dark, kind of sparkly but looks very “goth” on me.
For me, if there was just one thing I could buy here, it would be Fluidline Pen in Privet, which isn’t even part of this collection, ha ha! But really it’s a great liquid liner. The Studio Eye Glosses confound me to be honest. Does anyone wear this kind of thing for real on their eyes? The Into The Well Shadows are interesting I did find them decently pigmented but not all that interesting color-wise. The lipsticks are not for me personally, but there are some cool looking shades and the nail lacquers are great, but very dark – as the name implies I guess!
This collection is slated for release on December 3rd in North America according to the PR I have, but as usual, I’m sure it will be online before that, so keep an eye out!
