The NARS Steven Klein Collection features items from Founder and Creative Director Francois Nars and fashion photographer Steven Klein. Actually there are kind of two collections in one here. There is the Steven Klein Color Collection (13 pieces) and the Holiday Gifting Collection (10 pieces).
“Steven is an iconic fashion photographer. His work defies the rules of photography—it’s arresting and provocative. It pushes boundaries and elicits a reaction. I like that. He perfectly embodies the spirit of NARS.” —François Nars Founder & Creative Director
“I’ve always had the highest regard for François’ work. He is the pioneer of moving from one of the greatest makeup artists to creating great makeup. It is super exciting for me to collaborate using my photographs and joining them with his cosmetic genius.” —Steven Klein, Photographer
The Steven Klein Color and Holiday Gifting collections features three Killer Lip Shine Lipsticks ($29), three Single Eyeshadows ($25), three Killer Lip Shine Glosses ($28), three Nail Polishes ($20), a Dual-Intensity Blush ($45), Despair Cheek Palette ($65), Dead of Summer Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette ($49), Magnificent Obsession Red Lip Set ($49), A Woman’s Face Nude Lip Set ($49), Tearjerker Eye Set ($39), Humoresque Audacious Lipstick Coffret ($160), An Abnormal Female Lip Pencil Coffret ($65), Full Service Mini Kabuki Brush Set ($95), One Shocking Moment Cheek Studio Palette ($69) and Killer Heels Mini Lipstick Set ($49).
I only have a few items here from the SK Color Collection because their PR has new rules about sending makeup samples out, so sorry in advance for the limited swatches.
Fast Life Lip Gloss is a medium dusty rose pink with slight iridescent shine. Nice and opaque with lots ‘o shine.
Never Too Late is a muted olive green with slight golden shimmer. It’s actually more of a subtle gold sheen than shimmer – no fallout involved, yay! It’s kind of a subtle green shade but really quite lovely.
Hard To Get is a metallic bronze/gunmetal shade. Sometimes it looks more bronze/brown and other times more grey/gunmetal. All I know is it’s unique and it was love at first swatch! Gorgeous and buttery and you could get away with one coat.
Night Creature is a metallic iris purple. This is a pretty, deep shade, and it was perfect with two thin coats.
Black Fire is a shimmery deep slate blue. Another one I fell in love with immediately. The base color is a gorgeous blue/grey and the silvery flake-shaped shimmer is beautiful. This was two thin coats.
For me nearly everything here was a huge hit. I love Never Too Late Eyeshadow and the nail colors Hard To Get and Black Fire. Night Creature is also really nice, but I don’t feel like it’s as unique as the other two.
You can find this collection now on their website and at exclusive NARS boutiques. It will be available November 1st at Sephora and department stores.
