The ColourPop Where The Light Is Super Shock Shadow collection is my first experience with the brand after hearing/seeing a whole ‘lotta hype about them on Instagram. I decided to finally check out what all the buzz was about so I bought this set created by YouTube vlogger Kathleen Lights, a couple other shadows and a ton ‘o’ lippies (swatches coming soon). They are a cruelty-free company and made in Los Angeles.
I kept hearing how some people loved the odd texture/consistency of the shadows and some people didn’t care for it. It feels like a squishy sponge when you press down on it. Almost like it’s a creamy wet gel/sponge. I happen to LOVE that feeling so I was immediately a fan when I touched my first one. I have a thing for weird textures so I could literally touch these for hours. 😀 But the payoff was pretty darn good too, which only makes them better. I have yet to try them on my eyes as I just got them, but on the hand I was pleased with the results.
Glow is a vanilla with a matte finish.
Cornelious is a warm-toned caramel brown with a matte finish.
KathleenLights is an intense copper with a pearly/metallic finish.
Blaze is a bronze metallic with gold micro-glitter.
So I already talked about how I love the squishy-ness of the texture. But also they had really nice payoff. They applied evenly and without a whole lots of swipes. KathleenLights in particular was incredibly pigmented and amazing. These shades all play nicely with each other and I like the range of finishes. I am a fan!
