I have a new favorite primer and she is known as Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water.
Ok so when I first heard about this stuff I was like “PRIMER WATER? That is the dumbest thing on earth!” I feel like they make primers for practically everything now, in every sort of manner, and half of them are just marketing schemes. But after hearing some good things from people I trust I decided maybe there actually was something to this stuff. And now she’s like my BFF. The lazy-girl’s primer. 😀
Ok so what is this exactly? I’m just gonna take this from the site because it says it all:
WHAT IT IS:
Think priming benefits, hydration and sheer radiance—all in just 1 spritz! Primer water is free of silicone, alcohol and oil, but it’s packed with revitalizing electrolytes to wake up skin and restore moisture—like a supercharged energy drink for your skin. Passed through positive energy fields during the production process, our enriched water instantly absorbs into skin for lasting hydration (and when skin is hydrated, makeup looks better).
JUST THE FACTS:
1. Silicone-free. Alcohol-free. Oil-free.
2. Creates the sheerest canvas for makeup application
3. Wakes up skin, leaving it vibrant and radiant for hours
4. Restores moisture and hydrates skin for hours—shine free!
5. Refreshes throughout the day
6. Perfect for all skin types
HOW TO USE IT:
Mist on this multitasking water in 3 ways:
• Prime to create our sheerest canvas for makeup application
• Set your makeup to lock on your look
• Refresh throughout the day to wake up skin
Hold bottle 8”-10” away from face and mist evenly.
I have now been using this for about 2 weeks and under a variety of BB Cremes and a couple foundations. I’ve also used it as a “refresher” during the day. I love it underneath my makeup as a primer because it dries super fast, smells good, feels light and totally grease-free and it takes like a millisecond to get it on. Much easier than opening a tube and using my fingers to spread it out like a normal primer (see how lazy I am?)
I had serious doubts as to whether this would really help hides pores and blemishes like a normal primer does but it actually does! Like a normal primer! And the other thing I love about the spray part of this is you never have to worry about it balling up like some primers do when you mix them with certain face makeups. As a refreshing spray it’s just nice. It feels good to spray something nice smelling onto your face and you can even chill it in the fridge for extra hot and/or melty days. It helps revive my makeup a bit and make me look a little more dewy.
I do wish it was less expensive but since I only need 3-4 sprays before applying makeup I think it should last awhile.
