You know how sometimes things just don’t work out the way you had planned? Well that was my experience with the new NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation.
I had heard such good things about this foundation so when I was last at Sephora I decided to give her a whirl. I was all excited about it because it’s been awhile since I bought a foundation. I hardly ever wear actual foundation anymore, usually it’s a BB Cream, so I was hoping this would get me back into the foundation groove.
Here is some official info about the formula from their site:
Full, natural-looking coverage with unexpectedly weightless, 16-hour wear. Highly pigmented and perfectly balanced, this breakthrough formula builds and blends effortlessly with just one drop—the result of exclusive innovation uniquely designed to deliver long-wearing full coverage, weightlessly. Shake, pump and blend in sections for complete coverage that’s completely natural looking. Weightless Long-wear Technology delivers up to 16 hours of wear, while always feeling light-as-air. Featuring advanced flexible polymers and first-to-market treated pigments.
Mont Blanc is the second lightest shade in the line and it’s perfect for me. I tried this foundation a few different ways to see what worked best and sadly, none of them worked out.
I first tried it over my standard Simple SPF/Moisturizer, which I wear under pretty much everything. That didn’t work so good. Then I tried it on two more occasions over two different primers including a NARS one. That didn’t work either. The problem was it seemed to settle into and completely enhance my pores! Even with a primer, which helps hide and blur pores, it immediately seemed to settle into them. I tried using a brush one time and my fingers the other times. It didn’t make any difference in how it blended into my skin. The same thing happened.
Now if I hadn’t been for the pore-settling issue I still don’t know if I would have loved it. It was ok. I felt like it gave my skin maybe just a hint of looking luminous, but you had to really look hard to see it. I found the coverage to be on the light side but it is buildable a bit. I dunno, I guess I expected to look like Scarlett Johansson after all the amazing reviews but I honestly didn’t see anything great about it. In fact my Too Faced Beauty Balm (which is my current go-to) makes my skin look much, much better than this did. So she’s going back to Sephora.
If you want to try it out for yourself you can find it at Sephora and it’s $48.00.
