Coloured Raine Matte Lip Paint is a product that was brought to my attention recently on Instagram.
I started seeing all these swatches of this gorgeous looking stuff and there were a couple shades I desperately wanted right away. These lip shades are vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free and paraben-free. They go on extremely saturated and creamy, and dry to a matte finish. The applicator is an angled sponge that works beautifully in distributing the color across the lips. They stay on the lips until you remove them with an oil-based remover, so yeah, they last a really long time!
Marshmallow is a medium taupe/grey.
Soul is a deep taupe/brown.
Berri Raine is a bright magenta purple.
As you can see here these swatches aren’t completely dry. They apply very liquid-y and then dry to a nice matte finish.
I really like all three of these shades but Marshmallow in particular makes me very happy. I love colors that look taupe/grey on my skin tone. I also really adore Soul, but it is very dark on me. Berri Raine was the only one that gave me a little difficulty with the application. I had to go over it quite a bit to get the purple completely even. Not a deal-breaker, but just make note of that if you are considering purchasing it.
Now, are these super drying to the lips alongside being super matte? Kind of. I mean as I have said about 10 trillion times by now, my lips are always dry. So for me to feel comfortable wearing these I do like a light layer of a balm underneath. And of course, exfoliating your lips before wearing them makes them look and feel much better as well. I have been on a major lip color kick lately and I am rather pleased I now have these. I do wish they were about half the price though!
I am going to toss in one thing about the company itself that kind of irks me. Their Instagram page tends to feature mostly SUPER edited photos and/or people who have hundreds of thousands of followers. They don’t seem to feature “the average gal” wearing their products much, so I unfollowed them because of that. I am really over this kind of behavior by brands. But that’s a whole ‘nother post… 😉
You can find these on their website and they are $16.00 each for 4 grams.
