Essie Cashmere Matte is a new six-piece collection which I happened upon whilst in Ulta recently.
I checked out all six shades and nearly chose three of them, but really, only two completely appealed to me and those were Comfy In Cashmere and Coat Couture.
The finish, as the name implies, is matte but it’s a satin-matte and they have iridescent sparkles within them. Obviously since they are matte they are meant to be worn without a top coat. I added one to see how they looked anyway, and they turned out magical!
Comfy In Cashmere is a light mauve with purple iridescent shimmer. As far as formula these are definitely not great. They are thick and a little sticky, but with two coats they do cover decently. I also like that they don’t highlight my nail ridges a ton. I like this one matte okay, but with a top coat it’s much better!
That shimmer comes to life with the top coat.
Coat Couture is a deep purple/grey with blue shimmer. Gorgeous shade, I really like this one matte. The same formula issues occurred with this one. It’s not great but not impossible to work with. This was two coats.
But look at it with a top coat!! Wow. I just cannot even express how gorgeous this is. Mesmerizing.
I think these two shades are interesting and unique as mattes, and I do like them that way. But when you add a super shiny top coat it just brings out all that pretty shimmer, which I really love. I think they were worth it, even with the annoying formula.
I found these at Ulta and they were $8.50 each.
What do you think about these shades? Would you wear them as mattes or with a top coat?
