Well it’s Monday yet again, I hope you survived the weekend and had some fun/relaxation/excitement!
Today I’ve got the new Wet n Wild Fergie Velvet Matte Lip Color shades, which are Walgreens exclusives. I was super excited to see these. In fact out of all the new Wet n Wild releases, this is what excited me the most. Sadly, they didn’t live up to the possibilities I had for them.
These chunky crayons, which don’t need sharpening since they twist-up, have a velvet-like matte texture. The caps match the shade inside, which is a nice touch. They also have a matte texture on the packaging, which I also really like. But the formula leaves much to be desired. They are really quite sheer for what I expected and they don’t apply very evenly either. Some of them I had to apply for what seemed like an eternity before they showed up on my lips. Many of the shades look very similar when on my lips also. They definitely feel like mattes too, and not in a good way. There isn’t much hydration going on so my lips felt fairly dry after wearing one of them for just an hour.
Nude Muse is a pale sand/nude.
Pinky Candy is a light pink.
Kreamsicle Kitty is a pastel peach.
The Stand Out is a pale lavender.
Trendscendence is a medium brown/pink.
DJ Doll is a pink/orange.
Fashion Darling is a pinky/red.
Plumgenue is a medium plum.
Timeless Chick is a medium brown.
You can see that the first four shades, which are the most pale ones, are a little bit lip-line-y and they actually look pretty dry. The deeper shades don’t settle into lip lines and they looks slightly better on me but they are all so similar. Many of them were blotchy going on and I struggled getting them to look decent. While I do like the colors of some of these I just feel like the formula leaves much to be desired. Like hydration and more pigmentation!
One other thing to note, which could have just been something on my end, was one of them was kind of broken. The whole colored pencil part came out of the tube when I opened the cap, so I suspect others may do this as well.
These are only available at Walgreens and are $3.49 each.
Are you going to try these out for yourself?
