OPI Fifty Shades of Grey has arrived!
As you know, this new limited edition collection is based on the film adaptation of the worldwide bestselling book of the same name.
I’m not even going to comment on the book because I have said it before, I think the writing in the book was garbage, and I like Jackie Collins, so obviously I am no book snob. And I also want to say I am SO GLAD my Hollywood husband Charlie Hunnam backed out of this movie because it made me sad to think of him in that role even though he might be nekkid. 😉
Back to the actual collection. Most everything is a grey, because it would be weird if it was all pink, and I happen to love grey nail polish, so seeing a collection based on the movie didn’t bother me at all. Everything had a pretty good formula and most of these covered in just two coats.
Cement the Deal is a cool-toned light grey creme. This is one of my favorite types of grey nail shades to wear. I think I probably have others very similar but this one is great. This is two coats.
Embrace the Grey is a medium grey creme. This had a slightly thin formula so I actually could have used three coats to get it more even on a couple nails. Still a great shade.
Dark Side of the Mood is a dark charcoal grey with very hidden subtle shimmer. I love this shade! I love anything that is super dark like this and looks almost black, but isn’t quite black. Black looks so harsh on me but this works nicely. This was two coats.
My Silk Tie is a metallic pale silver. This had an ok formula. It does show up a little brush stroke-y but it covers in two coats. It doesn’t seem unique though.
Romantically Involved is a deep red creme. Yep another red creme. Good formula and covered in two coats.
Shine for Me is a silver and navy blue glitter. This covered my nails evenly and with just two coats and it’s a nice glitter if you are into that sort of thing.
My personal favorites are Cement the Deal, Embrace the Grey and Dark Side of the Mood, but there aren’t any bad ones in the bunch, just some that aren’t that interesting perhaps.
As mentioned, these are limited edition and available starting this month at Ulta, Regis, Dillard’s, etc. and they are $9.50 each.
Do you have a favorite shade from the collection?
