The Kat Von D Innerstellar Palette is a new limited edition palette that features 12 new eyeshadows.
The website calls these “celestial neutrals” hence the name I suppose. I don’t know about all that, but I can tell you that I saw this in the store and it only took me a nano-second before I decided I wanted to buy it! The colors completely called to me. You wanna know why? Ok here goes.
In the last couple years I have gotten, ahem, older and realized my taste in makeup is changing. I always kind of felt that my 20’s and 30’s was the time for really wacky and/or bold eyeshadow colors and finishes, and that one day they wouldn’t look that hot on me anymore. Well that day has come. I feel pretty asinine wearing a super bright eyeshadow now. Maybe it’s not even that I am 42 and it looks bad, maybe it’s just that I am not really into it anymore. Having said that though, I am definitely NOT into wearing boring barely-there nudes all the time. I like color! I like purple! This palette is filled with color and purple, but it’s more on the tame side.
What I love about it also is that the colors are cool-toned which I slightly prefer over warm shades. There is a great mix of light and dark shades and neutral to smokier shades. The shadows are super buttery and soft with really good pigmentation. Oh and of course the design of the palette is really pretty on the outside and there is a huge mirror inside.
Gravitron is a light iridescent pink.
Vast is a light taupe with pearl finish.
Lycan is a light cream matte.
Night Crawler is a dusty beige matte.
Dios is an iridescent silver/grey.
Lunacy is a medium purple pearl.
Astrological is a pale lilac sheen.
Darkstar is a deep purple pewter.
Orion is a medium chocolate brown matte.
3am is a deep metallic champagne/taupe.
Moonshine is an intense metallic silver.
Killing Moon is a deep black matte.
Love at first swatch. Really, I cannot get enough of how creamy and amazing these feel when you touch them. They are so soft, yet they don’t crumble. They almost feel like creams. I love the pigmentation and the variety of shades. I love that there are three base or highlighter shades then other coordinating ones below them. I can’t say enough good things about this palette, I am really pleased! If I had to say one negative thing (aside from the higher price) it would be that Killing Moon was a bit chalky. Otherwise it’s great.
You can find Innerstellar at Sephora now.
