It seems like it’s been an eternity since I swatched a nail collection so this morning I have Deborah Lippmann Whisper for spring 2015!
This collection, as the name may imply, is a soft, pale collection featuring four new sheer shades. The inspiration behind the collection was the Honor’s S/S 2015 runway show, which included soft lights going through chiffon fabric that the models wore. Deborah thought it looked calm and peaceful so she came up with these quiet shades that are perfect for spring.
I swatched all four of these shades over her ridge-filler base coat so I could get them as even as possible. My nails don’t ever look perfect with pale shades like this (stupid ridges) unless I do twelve million coats. I did use three coats for all of these to get them as even and saturated as I could.

A Fine Romance
A Fine Romance is a pearly champagne/pink shimmer.

Like Dreamers Do
Like Dreamers Do is a pale bisque creme.

Misty Morning
Misty Morning is a pale blue/grey creme.

Chantilly Lace
Chantilly Lace is a light iridescent pink shimmer.
As you can see even with the ridge-filler base coat and three coats they aren’t completely even on me. But that’s MY problem, this always happens with me with sheer shades, no matter the brand. They are meant to be sheer so they definitely fit the bill. I think they are pretty, and my favorites are Misty Morning and Chantilly Lace. But I also think they would look much better on someone else than they do on me!
These are coming January 13th to the Deborah Lippmann website and in February to Sephora, Nordstrom, etc. and they are $18.00 each.
Love a sheer shade for spring or prefer more pigmentation?

Like Dreamers do is kind of lovely, but the rest aren’t quite doing it for me EXCEPT Misty Morning is to die for!!

Hmmm, I’m not really loving any of these shades but out of all of them, I like how Like Dreamers Do looks on you!

I think they’re pretty for a palette cleanser, but they would definitely need underware. Kinda reminds me of OPI Ballet Collex.
I’m totally going to have to grab one of these shades. I really love sheer polishes sometimes and these look like they’re really well done!

Some may think this collection is boring, but I really love it! Perfect for work too!

I wasn’t so sure about these when I saw the bottles. I thought they were going to be kind of bland. I was pleasantly surprised!

Looks like soft pastels are the thing for this summer. I’m not a fan, though.
3 coats and they are still sheer! This happens all too frequently with Deborah Lippman. I’ll wait and see what Zoya and others do for spring.
They are supposed to be sheer though. 😉
So pretty ~ I love light colors on my finger nails.
Monica.
I have the same problem with sheers too. However Deborah Lippmann has a new base coat, All About That Base CC that is supposed to color correct, fill ridges and conceal. They need to send you a sample of this Kelly!
Would you still happen to have Lippmann’s spring shade from last year, La Vie En Rose? I wonder how it compares to the two new pinks in this collection. Thanks!
I wanna try that stuff!
Love Chantilly Lace on its own… but I really do think these would be much prettier opaque!
Misty Morning is pretty, but at that price point, I want to be WOWED.

Like moarpolish, I’d love to see comparisons between these shades and the OPI NYC Ballet ones!
I love all of these! Do you have any recs on a sheer pale blue, that’s bluer than Misty Morning?
I love the look of Like Dreamers Do, looks beautiful on your nails 🙂
I certainly love a good pastel, and the bottle shots I think are beautiful but I think they are just a bit too sheer for me!
I wouldn’t pay that much for something that didn’t really stand out. There is nothing wrong with these, but they’re nothing special either. Also, my nails was peel and look ugly at the tips, so I don’t like sheers on my nails. Not to mention I just prefer a lot of color.
These actually look like they’d make excellent neutral bridal polished. They’re so delicate looking.
Chantilly Lace is a nice sheer.
Do you know if they are permanent?
It’s LE.
these look like they might be great for jelly sandwiches. chantilly lace reminds me of a paler Jessica Rolling Rose but without the multicolored/multichrome shimmer. i agree, though…for the price, i myself would skip.
as always, thank you for the great swatches!
