This is a post I have been meaning to write for months. It’s been sitting in my draft folder since the beginning of August! But finally I shall share with you my first ever experience with Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Spot Treatment Concealer + Treatment in Light.
First off let me start by saying this isn’t really the product I wanted to try. The product I wanted to check out is called Instant Age Rewind Dark Circles Concealer + Treatment, but they didn’t seem to have it at the Rite Aid I was at, so I wound up with this one. And I guessed at the shade, which is the medium one out of 5 shades. Turns out it was a wee bit too dark so I went back and got Fair/Light, which is one shade lighter than this, and seems to work a little better for me.
So this stuff comes in a twist-out tube that has a sponge applicator. You twist it and the concealer comes out of the sponge, which you then blend onto your face. It contains a vitamin C treatment, which is supposed to (over time) help reduce dark spots on the face. I wasn’t really looking for a dark spot treatment though, I just wanted to try it out as a concealer and hoped it wouldn’t crease. And it doesn’t!
There are so many things I love about this stuff. First off I love the soft sponge applicator. I think it’s a more fun way to apply concealer somehow. You don’t need a ton of the product, and not too much comes out with each twist.
I also love the consistency of this stuff. It’s not too heavy, but also not too light. It does a nice job of helping to conceal dark circles under my eye, but it doesn’t completely get rid of them. It just makes me look like I got a couple more hours of sleep than normal. 😉
And about that consistency, there is NO CREASING EVER! It doesn’t settle into those (horrific) fine lines under my eyes even after hours, and that is always my #1 complaint about concealers nowadays. Sometimes, if I am feeling extra energetic I will set it very lightly with the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder, which helps it from fading/creasing, etc. throughout the day. But even if I don’t set it it works out just fine for me.
I have been using this concealer pretty much exclusively for the past couple months and really love it. I do still want to try the other one and see if it helps with the dark circles any better.
What is your go-to concealer right now? Have you tried one like this?
