NYX Honey Dew Me Up Primer is a new primer on the scene that’s pretty different from the average silicone primer.
For me this doesn’t really seem like a primer – it’s more of a serum. It has a very gel-like liquidy texture, and comes in a bottle with a spatula applicator. A pump would have been much better and easier, I think. It does contain the natural antiseptic honey, as well as gold flakes, which are supposed to increase skin radiance and collagen, for smoother skin.
Gimmicky perhaps? Perhaps.
The way you apply it is over a clean, moisturized face. Apply it with the little spatula thingie, which isn’t exactly user-friendly, and then wait a couple of minutes for it to set before you apply your makeup over it.
The gold flakes don’t really seem to do much, if anything at all. I don’t see any extra radiance to my skin. The product feels on the sticky side, which doesn’t surprise me since it looks like and has the viscosity of honey. It does smell nice. But honestly, I don’t see any difference to my skin when I use it, and it doesn’t really even cover pores or blur imperfections like a regular primer does.
Gimmicky? Yes, I think so. And it is on the pricier side as well.
