Awhile back, actually now that I think about it it was like 3 months ago, I was at Sephora checking out the Dr. Jart+ products when I saw the Water Fuse Smart Gel BB. They had a couple of tester containers open so I dipped my finger in one. Lo and behold it had the coolest, jelly-like texture!
If you don’t already know this about me, then let me tell you, I love a product with a strange texture. I have been known to buy things for the texture alone. But I have actually loved a Dr. Jart+ BB cream in the past, so I figured I would try this one out and see if I loved it as much. It comes in just two shades: Light-medium and Medium-dark, so I chose Light-medium. I comes with this little plastic scoop-thingie which you can use to apply it, but I prefer my fingers or a sponge.
Water Fuse Smart Gel BB has an SPF of 30, which is great. And get this, it was actually inspired by the memory foam mattress! It has shape memory polymers inside, so sci-fi! The Smart Gel BB retakes shape once applied to your skin which helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and enlarged pores. It’s infused with powerful anti-aging and anti-inflammatory ingredients, it brightens the complexion, corrects skintone, and naturally covers blemishes.
Light-medium is the perfect shade for me. It’s not too light, and not too yellow. More of a good, neutral color.
So here’s the down-low. This has what I consider a light to medium coverage. It does do a great job of covering pores and blemishes, as well as red areas such as my cheeks and nose. The one thing I don’t like about it is it’s a little shinier than other BB products that I prefer. You definitely get more of a dewy finish with this than say compared to the Premium Beauty Balm, which I used and loved before. So my skin feels a little on the oilier side when I wear it, which isn’t my favorite. Having said that, it could be great for people with really dry skin because this might help make their skin feel more evened out while they wear it.
It lasts the whole day but I feel like I need to powder down more than I normally would with other products. So while I love the texture and the idea of this, I don’t completely love this one.
You can find this at Sephora if you are interested in checking it out.
