I’ve been wanting to do a post about my favorite mascaras for awhile but I was waiting until I could re-purchase one of them. Since I finally got around to doing that, today you will find out what I love the most (at the moment)!
There are seven mascaras that I am currently having an affair with. That might seem like a lot, but hey, I’m a Gemini and I get bored easily. 😉
We’ve got three from MAC, one from Too Faced, one from bareMinerals and one from Urban Decay. And note, most of these have the same kind of brush – that rubber-style, rather than the classic brush. I just LOVE the rubber ones for some reason.
I really like this mascara because it’s super black, has a nice large rubber brush and doesn’t clump on me at all. It gives me really great length and good volume with no smudging or flaking throughout the day. The tube looks cool also, which is a small thing, but it’s something.
This mascara is another one with a rubber brush but also it works kind of like a comb, getting into every area of your lashes. When you take the wand out of the tube there is zero excess of product that you need to wipe off. It’s completely non-clumping, and is really easy to use and get good length and volume from. No smudging for me either! I love the Aqua shade as well.
MAC Studio Sculpt Lash ($17)
This is a really unique mascara because of the brush. You can see photos of it here in my original review. It lengthens my lashes really well and give them this nice fluttery look. Plus it’s kind of fun using the weird-shaped brush!
This one has the old-style brush but I still really like it. It does look like it’s going to be a mess when you take the wand out of the tube but it doesn’t apply clumpy or too thickly. It’s very black, gets into all my lashes well and never smudges. My lashes don’t feel like sharp little daggers either, they feel softer. And the tube! Yeah the tube is so nice.
Urban Decay Perversion ($22)
This is my newest love. Perversion also has the older style brush (non-rubber) but that’s ok because it’s awesome. It has multi-length bristles that get really deep into the base of your lashes. It does a great job of making my lashes both thicker and longer and it’s super black. No clumps or flaking to be had!
Benefit They’re Real! ($23)
First of all I cannot believe this came out in 2011. Wow times flies. Ok this has been one of my favs since it debuted. This does have the rubber style brush but it’s different than most because you can apply it the normal horizontal way, but then you can also use it vertically and get the rounded-tip to really dig into that lash-line. This never flakes on me and never makes my lashes feel super stiff.
This is a great mascara because of the smaller, narrower brush which helps cover even the smallest lashes and makes them thicker and longer. This is also self-curling, which isn’t that important to me since I always curl them anyway. I like it because it makes my lashes look super long and fluttery, and it lasts for a really long time with no flaking.
If I had to pick just one of these to use (which is really hard!) I think I would pick Benefit They’re Real! It’s been a favorite of mine for three years now and it’s pretty hard to beat it.
