Can you believe I am showing fall collections already? It seems like summer just started and we still have two months to go! Alas, the makeup world is ahead of where my brain wants to be, which is firmly planted in summer.
Because I can’t get people to slow down on the collections, I now bring you the Tarte Fall 2014 Collection. Or at least some of the items. Don’t you love this snake print? I totally dig it. The collection includes nine items and I think the ones I have today are the most interesting ones in the bunch.
Bare To Explore is a pinky/taupe matte.
Make A Mauve is a medium sparkly mauve.
Plum Away With Me is a deep sparkly plum.
Up To No Gold is a metallic gold.
Tan-gled Up In You is a soft brown matte.
Don’t Turn A-brown is a deep brown matte.
All of these over a primer felt soft and were nicely pigmented. I like that there is a mix of mattes, shimmers, cool-tones and warmer tones.
Champagne is a light shimmery champagne gold.
Park Ave. Princess is a light/medium matte brown.
Unleashed is a light dusty rose matte.
Champagne is incredibly soft and pigmented, so pretty. Park Ave. Princess is a great shade for those with light or medium skin tones and it too is very soft and pigmented. I think it would make a great eyeshadow shade also.
Unleashed is a perfect medium matte pink shade. It’s not super pigmented, but definitely enough to work well. Love this shade!
Bronze is a deep bronze with slight shimmer.
Black is a jet black matte.
Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara is a dark black.
Best in Faux Lash Extending Fibers are black.
The dual liner (Sephora exclusive) is an interesting thing. I’m not sure if I like it or not though because I feel like eventually the shades might get muddled together. Both are super soft, creamy and pigmented though.
Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara comes in a small tube (0.10 oz) and is a good lengthening black mascara.
Best in Faux Lash extending Fibers are…weird and kind of scary looking! It looks like the wand was dropped on my bathroom floor and Parker’s hair got all over it! So you add these on top of the Lights, Camera Mascara to add length. The thing for me is, I think I waited too long for the mascara to dry before adding the fibers because they didn’t really stick. They wound up falling all over my face, which definitely isn’t cute. They added a little length but since I didn’t use them the way I was supposed to they didn’t really work for me.
Ok so below is a photo of the next day when I decided to try it out exactly as the instructions say. First I applied Lights, Camera, Lashes. Then I dabbed on Best in Faux onto the tips, kind of from the middle out. Then I applied another coat of Lights, Camera, Lashes to keep the fibers in place. I can definitely see they look longer but it’s not really that much of a difference. The fibers definitely stayed in place this time around though, so that’s a good thing. I think I will just be sticking to normal mascara personally, because this didn’t make that much of a difference to me, and it’s not worth the time or effort in my book.
The tinted brow gel in Rich Brown( worn in the photo two above) ) is a really great product that I wound up liking way more than I thought I would. The wand is super small and super narrow, which makes applying it easier than even the Benefit Gimmie Brow stuff, which has a wider wand. The small brush really gives a more precise application, which I need because I have some bald spots I have to cover up. My only issue with it was the color isn’t cool-toned enough for me. It’s not super warm, but still I prefer more of a taupe shade than caramel or warm brown. This comes in shades Taupe, Medium Brown and Rich Brown.
Do you see anything in this collection that you are interested in trying out?
