I’ve got a quick pupdate for ya!
Parker has been home since yesterday around 6:00 pm, and has been seizure free for nearly 48 hours now. He’s on a concoction of meds (Zonisamide, Keppra and just until today, Clorazepate) which seems to be helping much better than before as he’s had no symptoms or weird side effects. Yay!
Tomorrow morning he will be getting an MRI because the neurologist thought it would be a really good idea in his case. Since he is so young and he had status seizures (ongoing for a long period of time) he thought it could be some other underlying medical issues causing them, rather than just epilepsy. If that all goes well and they don’t see anything, he may then do a liver bile test (which is rather easy, non-invasive and relatively inexpensive) and then a spinal fluid tap, to rule out issues like encephalitis, etc.
He’s so happy to be home and for the most part is acting normal. The meds make him tired and a little loopy (he walks around like a drunken sailor sometimes), but he’s eating, drinking, interested in toys and hanging out near us.
We are currently at about 28% of our goal on Go Fund Me, which is most excellent! If you are able to donate or know someone who might, even the smallest amount will help immensely. The cost for the MRI and reading alone is $2,300!
Thanks again for all the kind words, thoughts and support throughout all this. Parker sends kisses!
