Lipstick Queen Let Them Eat Cake Lipstick is new for summer and was inspired by none other than Queen Marie Antionette – who actually was never proven to say that phrase.
Poppy King, the creator of Lipstick Queen, says “I’ve always been fascinated by the opulence of the court of Versailles. It was Marie Antoinette’s infamous misquote that ran through my head when I created this lipstick.”
I have to say the little box it comes in might be my favorite part! It’s pink and fuzzy with pink metallic writing. I think this is one of the only lipstick boxes I will actually be keeping. The gunmetal colored lipstick tube itself is square with a magnetic closure and it feels really weighty and nice.

The lipstick is infused with vitamin E and apricot kernel oil, which helps it go on smoothly and hydrate the lips.

Let Them Eat Cake
Let Them Eat Cake is a pastel lilac shade with rose gold lustre pigments that add a glittery look to the lips. You can use it on its own or use it as a top coat to other lipsticks for an icy, sparkly effect. When it starts wearing off, the rose gold sparkles are left behind on the lips.

I like it because it’s not overly frosty, not too cool and not too warm. It would work on many different skin tones. It does have the shimmer in it but doesn’t feel gritty or gross on the lips.
It has no scent or taste but I actually kind of wish it smelled like cake!
Now prepare yourselves for the price. Are you sitting down? It’s $45.00. OUCH. I think Marie Antionette would approve. 😉
If you are rich or just won the lottery you can find this at Barneys New York, Space NK and her website.
