The 3.1 Phillip Lim for NARS Nail Collection is coming soon and I’ve got swatches for ya today.
This limited edition collection releases on July 15th at NARS boutiques and their website, and August 1st at Sephora and department stores. It includes nine shades created by fashion designer Phillip Lim and inspired by “colors that exist in the shadows”. The collection includes dark jewel-toned cremes and shimmery neutrals.
As far as formula, these are freaking amazing. Almost all of these were just one coat! ONE COAT! I mean does it get better than that? Good stuff.
The brushes for this collection are much wider than their previous ones, and they have a slightly rounded tip. I don’t know if this is a new brush change for all NARS shades or just this collection.
The square caps do come off to reveal a round handle underneath for easier application.

Anarchy
Anarchy is an off-white creme. I fondly think of this shade as “computer beige” and I don’t mean that in a bad way! I really, really love this particular shade because it’s rather unusual. This one did require two to three coats because it’s on the more sheer side.

Gold Viper
Gold Viper is a champagne gold foil. Wowzers. This one is SO intense the photo does it no justice. It really looks like I dipped my nails in molten gold. It’s slightly brush-stroke-y but it only requires one coat.

Insidious
Insidious is a blackened bronze that looks like a deep olive green with orange, gold and green shimmer. Utterly fantastic and beautiful! You know I love shades like this and the fact that this was so smooth and creamy, and only required one coat makes me love it even more. This one though will be harder to find because it’s exclusive to NARS boutiques and their website.

Wrong Turn
Wrong Turn is a graphite metallic. This one carefully balances the edges of both silver and blue. The formula was utter perfection. It was so incredibly creamy and perfect with no brush strokes at all. This is one coat!

Hell-Bent
Hell-Bent is a bright red creme. Nice formula, nice red but nothing unique. This one did require two thin coats for best coverage.

Crossroads
Crossroads is a dark violet creme. Super dark. The next three are incredibly dark in fact and I’m sure these are the ones he meant when he said “colors that exist in the shadows”. It’s a really pretty shade, but will look almost black indoors. This was one coat.

Dark Room
Dark Room is a super dark denim blue creme. This blue is also very dark but it might be a little more obvious that it’s blue and not black. Great formula, one coat.

Other Side
Other Side is a dark chocolate brown creme. I initially thought this was a super dark red but it’s brown. This too will basically look black indoors. Great formula again, just one coat.

Shutter
Shutter is a super dark blackened green creme. Again it’s so dark you can hardly tell it’s green unless you are in good lighting. I still like it though. Another one with a great formula and just one coat covered perfectly.
These will retail for $20.00 each.
See anything here you will be snatching up?
