Nail polish fanatics I’ve got a review of two great new books, both about nail polish and both completely different!
First up is Nails The Story of the Modern Manicure by Suzanne E. Shapiro. As you might expect from the title this is a history of nail polish from its start up until this moment. This book is really great because I’ve always wanted a book about the background and history of polish, how it got started, how it’s changed, etc. It has some really great photos inside and it’s a really interesting read. There’s even a little blurb about Michelle from All Lacquered Up and some info from Nails Magazine that there are an estimated 35,000 blogs dedicated to nails. 35,000!!!!!
Next up is a book called 500 Nail Designs by Chelsea Franklin, the blogger behind The Nail Network.
This is pretty cool because a fellow blogger created the whole book! Chelsea worked on 500 different designs for this book and photographed each and every one. They are put into easy to find chapters such as Prints & Patterns, Seasons, Work-Appropriate Designs, Holiday, etc. In the back there is a step-by-step guide with photos on how Chelsea gets a perfect manicure.
I really love this book because first of all, there are so many cool designs to admire. Secondly, the photos are really crisp and nice, each manicure has a name, and the photos give me so much inspiration. Sometimes it’s nice to be able to flip through a single book to find something rather than search online in a million different places.
One thing to note about this book. There are no instructions on how to get any of the designs, only photos of the end result.
You can find both of these books on Amazon right now and I highly recommend both of them!
