There has been much hype over the new Benefit They’re Real! Push-Up Liner and today I’ve got my opinion about it.
First of all let’s talk about what this stuff actually is. This is the first ever gel-liner pen and it’s in a matte black shade. It has a custom AccuFlex tip which hugs your lashline so the product gets super close to lashes. All you do to use it is twist it up from the bottom, then the gel comes out of the tip and you glide it along your lashline.
You can see the little hole in the tip where the gel liner comes out once you twist it.
The color is a nice opaque black matte. To get the product started it does take a few twists but once it’s going, it’s going.
For me there were some good and bad things about this liner. First the good.
It’s creamy and the formula does glide on nicely without much tugging. It’s very black on the eye, which I like. It doesn’t get all clumped into my eye lashes, which is another bonus. I do like that it’s all one apparatus, so there is no need for cleaning a brush. Also it seems like it won’t dry out as fast as something in a container with a lid, but that remains to be seen.
The negatives are just things I need to get used to, I think. It dries REALLY quickly so you don’t have much time to fix any mistakes before it’s completely set. I didn’t find this pen style quite as easy to use as a eye liner brush dipper in gel, actually. I think part of it might be because I never use an angled brush for my liner, so getting used to the angled shape is a learning curve for me. I’ve used it twice now, but I think with more practice I will like it more and more. It does do a nice little flick at the end if you want, but as you know from reading my site, I can’t do a cat-eye flick because of my saggy upper eyelids.
My take? Well I need to use it more to fall totally in love with it, but I think I will get there.
You can order this before the official launch here and it’s $24.00 for 0.04 oz.
So are you intrigued enough to purchase this?
