MAC Playland is a super colorful and fun collection of colors for summer 2014.
Playland features bright pinks, oranges and blues, with an oddball yellow tossed in to make things interesting. The collection includes six Lipsticks, five Lipglasses, three Casual Colors, 4 Pigments and four Chromagraphic Pencils.
I loved the official PR images for this collection so I included a few below. So whimsical!
Playland is a frosty yellow gold shade. Very strange color, not super wearable, but interesting nonetheless.
Happy-Go-Lucky is a hot pink amplified. Love this color, fabulous cool-toned pink.
Red Balloon is a hot fuchsia amplified. Another great, saturated shade.
For Your Amusement is a pastel pink.
Live It Up is a bright creamy orange. Love this shade on me.
Carousel is a creamy pink. It’s quite lip-line-y looking on me.
Process Magenta is a bright matte magenta.
Neo-Orange is a neon salmon shade. Looks nice over a primer actually, but it’s kind of a weird shade.
Overall: There are some things here that I thought were pretty nice. The lipsticks were all good, but I have to say Playland isn’t a shade that 99% of people would probably wear. I loved Live It Up Lipglass and the Chromagraphic Pencil in Process Magenta is a great shade and very pigmented. Neo-Orange Pigment is kind of cool but I’m not sure I could pull it off. I love the Casual Color shades because you can use them for lips and/or cheeks. I like the Lipglass color of Carousel, but the formula just didn’t work for me.
Availability: MAC through May 29th.
Pricing: Lipstick ($16), Lipglass ($15), Casual Color ($21), Pigment ($21), Chromagraphic Pencil ($16).
