Awhile back I was at Target and saw a product I hadn’t seen before. It was called NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder and it came in six different shades.
Well actually there are two shades per set, so there are actually twelve shades. The shades include Black/Grey (matte black and matte grey), Dark Brown/Brown (matte dark brown and matte brown), Taupe/Ash (matte taupe and matte ashy taupe), Auburn/Red (matte red brown and matte brown with slight red tones), Brunette (matte true brown and matte brown with slight red undertones) and Blonde (light taupe and ash blonde).
Inside each set you will also find a clear wax as well as a mini slanted applicator brush and mini spoolie. I decided on Taupe/Ash because it seemed like the shades and cool tones would would nicely for me.
As mentioned earlier both of these shades are matte and both have cool tones. I found the Taupe shade to be a little better for me because the Ash was a little too light by itself. A mixture of them works decently as well.
They are soft and it’s easy to pick up a good amount of color. I didn’t use the applicators that came with the set, I prefer my regular sized brushes. The wax is handy to use, but I prefer using a clear mascara over my brows afterwards to keep them in place.
Overall: I definitely found these easy to use and the shades were nice and cool-toned, which is what I am always looking for. If I am being 100% honest I would rather have these shades sell on their own (with a larger amount inside of the compact) without the wax and mini applicators. I think I would be a lot more inclined to use these if it was just the brow powders because I don’t find the wax necessary, and the applicators are so small and not really that great.
Availability: Target, Ulta, etc.
