The Zoya Naturel collection for 2014 is all about tone on tone with six new creme shades.
They want you to think of “the natural nail only better” when thinking of this collection. All of these are neutral nude shades with pink undertones – hmmm, sounds like the Urban Decay Naked3 Palette, doesn’t it? At first glance I wasn’t very wowed. Actually I’ll be honest, at first swatch I wasn’t either. But then the more I thought about the collection the more I kinda understood it.
Think of how a nude pair of heels might not seem all that interesting but they make your legs look a mile long. That’s kind of how I thought of some of these shades. Especially the two most pale ones on me. You can mix and match them to create some fun tone on tone nail art also, which I like the idea of.
The formula was really good with all of these. Some did require three thin coats for me, but most were two.
Chantal is a french vanilla shade. Loving this shade for all of its nude-ness on me. This was three thin coats.
Taylor is a light toffee shade. This is very similar to Chantal but it has more brown. Another great nude one for my skin tone. This was two coats.
Rue is a blush shade. This is a pretty nude pink shade with great coverage in two coats.
Brigitte is a mauve shade. This one was the most sheer and I used three coats.
Odette is a maroon shade. A pretty pinky/purple creme and it covered in two coats.
Normani is a sable mauve shade. I’m loving this taupe-y looking one, so pretty! This was two coats.
Overall: Upon first glance I wasn’t really impressed, but after wearing them for a bit I grew to like most of them. My favorite ones on me are Chantal, Taylor and Normani. The coverage was really great with most of them only requiring two coats. They are creamy and smooth with no application issues at all.
Pricing: $9.00 for 0.5 oz.
What do you think about this kind of neutral collection? Does it bore you or kind of excite you?
