I gave in. I cracked. I opened my wallet, thrust my credit card into the hand of the salesperson and bought them. I am speaking of the new Formula X for Sephora Effects Nail Color shades.
In fact I wound up buying six! I don’t know what came over me. I went into Sephora ONLY because my friend ran out of an Urban Decay eyeliner and needed a new one. I was interested in nothing. I needed nothing. I almost waited outside. Then I saw the display (again – the first time I managed to resist them) and rushed to it. I immediately began picking up colors and magically a woman appeared by my side and handed me a shopping basket. Next thing you know I had six of them in the basket. And not only that, whilst in the check-out line I grabbed an iridescent Sephora brand eyelash curler!
It was temporary insanity your honor.
Extraterrestrial (a “Celestial”) is a black and gold color shifter which actually looks overall to be a dark olive green glitter. Even though this isn’t described as being a textured polish, it does try with a sand-like matte texture. I love it! It’s so incredibly rich and intense. You could use one thick coat to cover completely, but I used two here. Gorgeous!
Galaxy (a “Celestial”) is a navy blue and silver shifter. Ok they say on the Sephora site it’s silver but I see gold both in the bottle and on the nail. It’s another really pretty and saturated shade. This one also seems to dry to a matte textured finish like Extraterrestrial does. This is two coats. So pretty.
Legend (a “Shifter”) is a deep maroon shade with lots of blue/pink/red/purple looking shimmer. This one is a very different finish than the previous two. It’s more sheer and I needed three coats to cover completely. It’s shimmery, not glittery, and there is no texture once it dries. Really amazing shade in person!
Overall: I am in looooove with these and want a gazillion more! I especially love the two textured ones because they cover so well and the formula is great, but Legend is awesome as well.
Stay tuned for my review of the other shades I purchased soon!
Pricing: $12.50 for 0.4 oz.
What do you think about these three? Have you tried any Formula X shades yet?
