Ladies and gents I have found an inexpensive dupe for Rescue Beauty Lounge Aqua Lily in Gap Bright Pool. Isn’t this fabulous news?
Aqua Lily was an immediate favorite of mine the second I swatched it. It’s an AMAZING color and so unique. Until now.
Someone actually tweeted me a bottle shot of Gap Bright Pool a couple weeks ago and asked me if they were dupes. I hadn’t seen it in person so really didn’t know.
Fast-forward to last weekend when I happened to be at the Gap and was checking out. I saw a container of nail polishes in a bin at the register then saw Bright Pool. Of COURSE I needed it (and some others, which I will swatch for you soon) so I bought it for $6.00. Actually no, I bought it for $3.00 because it was buy one get one free. 😀
Both shades are a vivid aqua blue with purple/pink shimmer running throughout. Both seem to have the same application flaw also. They apply a little sheer but build up, they’re both a little streaky and both dry a bit matte until you add a top coat.
So this is Bright Pool in all her glory. Isn’t she lovely? I used just two coats here so you could see that it’s a little bit uneven, just like my swatch below of Aqua Lily, which I swatched when it came out.
Aqua Lily, as you can see, looks basically exactly the same as Bright Pool, including those streaks when you use just two coats. Add a third and they go away.
Can you tell which is which? I honestly cannot tell any difference whatsoever in these two.
In terms of pricing and amount, Gap Bright Pool is a much better deal. Bright Pool is $6.00 (when not on sale) for 0.5 oz. Aqua Lily, if you could even get it anymore, would be between $18-20.00 for 0.4 oz. But again, it’s not in their main line so if you don’t already have it you probably never will.
I hope you guys are able to get your hands on Bright Pool at a Gap near you because it’s a much better value and exactly the same as far as I’m concerned.
Did you get Aqua Lily? Will you be hunting down Bright Pool now?
