The Cult Nails All Access collection for fall 2013 is here!
This new collection features five shades and was inspired by the grunge scene in the 90’s. I am ALL about the grunge scene and grunge music. Minus the heroin. 😉 This is an era I remember extremely fondly. Flannel shirts, torn jeans, black Doc Martens, Reality Bites, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog,…sigh. I am nostalgic for that time still, it was a great time and there hasn’t been anything like it since. And I really don’t think there ever will be again.
ANYWAY this collection has three cremes and two glitters. Let’s do it!
Grunge is a dusty green creme. Such a lovely calm shade. The formula was really nice and creamy. It was smooth, easy to apply and covered in two coats.
Feedback is a gold and iridescent glitter in a clear base. The glitter looks like broken shards of glass and I do love that. It is a bit on the thick side though and a little bit hard to get as much glitter as you want off the wand and onto the nail. This is just one coat here.
Wack Slacks is a bright blue creme. It’s very cool-toned and looks a little blurple-ish in certain lighting. It’s clean, crisp and really pretty. This was two creamy, perfect coats.
Lamestain is a dark, vampy red creme. It’s super shiny and I am rather pleased that it covered completely with two coats. Usually for me these deep red cremes take three coats and I get cuticle drag. Not with this one!
Disillusion has a black jelly base and features bright pink shards of glitter. I had a rather difficult time applying this one. The base isn’t opaque, but the polish is a bit thick, so getting the base really even and dark without getting the polish all clumpy was hard. This is three thin coats, and I waited a bit in-between each one to avoid clumps.
Overall: There are some great shades here. I really loved Grunge and Wack Slacks especially. Lamestain is a really nice vampy red, the formula was excellent. I also like Feedback but it’s on the slightly more difficult side to work with.
