Can I just say that I am really in love with the new MAC Pro Longwear collection? I definitely did not expect to be either!
This collection features seven new Pro Longwear Paint Pot shades (12 in all) as well as four Pro Longwear Eye Liners.
It’s funny because for some reason I always forget about my Paint Pots and rarely use them. But once I opened these up and saw how pretty, soft and neutral these were I got really psyched to bust them out again. I’ve actually WORN MAKEUP two days in a row using these. Shocking huh?
Now you can use these in a couple different ways. Some people use them as a sort of eye primer and then put a powder shadow over them to intensify the color. Others use them on their own. For these shades, because I love them so much, I’ve been wearing them on their own and I tested them without any primer underneath and then with a primer underneath. Results below!
Camel Coat, Clearwater, Stormy Pink, Tailor Grey
Camel Coat is a soft beige/taupe.
Clearwater is a pale sea-foam blue.
Stormy Pink is a greyish lavender.
Tailor Grey is a medium grey/taupe.
Powerline is a soft gold with sparkles.
Devotion is a deep green with light green sparkles.
Overall: I found the Paint Pots to be really nicely pigmented and they’re such beautiful muted shades. They all go together so nicely and they got me all riled up for neutrals, which doesn’t happen that often! I swatched them on my hand with no primer and got a nice even result.
The first day I tried Tailor Grey with Stormy Pink and no primer. It creased within 4 hours which is much longer than I can normally wear anything with no primer, but still not ideal. The next day I wore Stormy Pink over a primer and had no creasing after 8 hours.
One thing to note is these dry SO FAST that you have to blend, blend, blend as quickly as possible. They are a little harder to blend with no primer.
The Eye Liners are both really pretty shades with good pigmentation. I especially love Devotion.
Availability: MAC locations in September.
Pricing: Paint Pots are $20.00. Eye Liners are $19.50.
How do you feel about using Paint Pots? Do you like these muted shades?
