Bootie Babe (yes you read that correctly) is a San Francisco Bay Area nail polish company that recently launched 48 new shades for 2013.
And yes, these bottles are shaped like…your BUTT! The creator wanted something that stood out from all other bottles and I think he definitely did that. I think they’re kind of cute and also kind of silly. Not sure they are my thing – I feel like they would appeal to a younger teenage set, but still, unique for sure!
I tried out three of the new shades and can’t say I didn’t have any issues, though overall they were pretty shades. The formula maybe needs some work though to be perfect. They are big three free and cruelty free.
Baboon Moon is a deep navy blue with heavy teal shimmer. This shade is really deep, intense and super duper sparkly. I used three thin coats because my nail tips weren’t totally covered with just two. The formula was good but it’s a little lumpy looking and feeling when it dries, even with a top coat. It does dry matte-ish, so a top coat helps it sparkle more.
Hanky Spanky has a clear base and features bright purple micro-glitter. This is over a black creme. No real issues with this one. If you shake it well and get a thick coat you can get a lot of sparkle going on. I used two coats here.
Teenie Bikini is a light blue holo shimmer. This one I had the most issues with in terms of formula. It’s very sheer and has kind of a strange dry-ish texture. When I applied more coats it created some slightly bald/lumpy-ish areas (you can kind of see on middle and ring fingers in the middle). I did use three coats for coverage. It has a moderate holo effect.
Overall: I think these are all nice shades, but the formula with two of them needs some work. Not sure any of these are unique per se though. I feel like most people will either love, hate or think the bottles are too gimmicky.
