Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Stained Gloss just launched at The Makeup Show in New York. These are a new formula, something different from the typical Lip Tars!
They come in six shades and offer you a pigmented, glossy stain-like effect for your lips. You can wear them alone, layer them together or use them on top of other Lip Tars.
New Wave, Androgyne, Meta
New Wave is a bright pink.
Androgyne is a medium orange.
Meta is a vivid red.
Voyeur, Jealous, Rhythm Box
Voyeur is a yellow.
Jealous is a red/orange.
Rhythm Box is a raspberry pink.

Application with these was a little trickier than the normal Lip Tars. I needed about three times the amount to get the coverage the way I wanted. That’s still not a huge amount because you only need a couple small dabs. The hardest part was getting them as even as I wanted. They are meant to be kind of sheer like stained glass would be, but I still wanted as much coverage and evenness as possible. A couple tended to settle into my lips lines a bit, but they don’t look bad from a normal distance (remember these are super zoomed in pics).
On the lips Meta and Jealous look very, very similar. Meta leans a bit more red, Jealous a wee bit more orange. Voyeur is the only one I think the vast majority of people wouldn’t be able to pull off “as is”. It’s pretty harsh looking on its own.
As far as comfort, they feel really nice on. They feel light, slick and moisturizing, and last a couple hours on me, which is typical wear for a gloss on me.
Overall: I like these and they are nice for summer, but I actually prefer regular Lip Tars. The super anal retentive part of me isn’t a fan of the slight uneven finish. My favorite shades are New Wave, Jealous and Rhythm Box.
