Did you know that April is Earth Month? Well now you do!
In order to celebrate, Origins has a campaign called Plant-A-Tree. They are debuting four limited edition skincare items this month. In a partnership with American Forests’ Global ReLeaf (an education and action program that helps individuals, agencies and corporations improve the local and global environment by planting and caring for trees) Origins will be planting a tree for each limited edition product purchased between April 21st and April 28th. Since the launch of the Plant-A-Tree Campaign they have planted more than 265,000 trees around the world.
If you spend more than $55.00 you can also receive a limited edition Earth Month 2013 tote bag.
I had the chance to try all these items out so let’s get to it!
Modern Friction is a gentle dermabrasion face scrub. It features smaller and larger gritty bits and definitely doesn’t feel harsh or drying on my skin. It has a very earthy scent, not bad or overwhelming though.
Clear Improvement is a charcoal mask which is supposed to help clear pores. You are supposed to heat up your face with a wash cloth to open your pores, then spread it on thick. Wait until it dries (10 minutes or so) then rinse off. I have has some experiences with these charcoal masks drying my skin out a bit, but not this one. No stinging i the eye area either, which I’ve also had issues with. It goes on thick and won’t drip. No overwhelming scent either. My face felt super clean and soft afterwards. You can use it a couple times a week to help clear pores. Time will tell if it really works for me with that!
Checks and Balances is a frothy face wash and really cool product which I adore but for two small things (which I will get to in a sec). When they say “frothy” they mean “FROTHY!” When I first used this I used way too much and basically I was drowning in frothy bubbles all over my face. You only need a pea sized amount of the creamy formula and it lathers up so nicely! It does sting if you get it in your eyes, so be careful about that.
So one thing I don’t like is that it made my face feel rather tight afterwards. A little too tight for my liking. But those with oilier skin might love it. The other thing I don’t love is that it smells exactly like toothpaste. Like mint Colgate. Hmm.
Drink Up Intensive is an overnight mask to help your skin get tons of moisture. You apply it to the skin and massage it in. Then wipe off the excess with a tissue. It felt nice on, like a thick moisturizer. It has a fabulous grapefruit or citrus-like scent. I didn’t really notice any difference in my skin the next day, but it felt nice anyway!
