As you already know, MAC recently came out with a Marilyn Monroe collection. In this collection there are five nail lacquers and I’ve got most of them for ya.
Now being honest, there isn’t anything all that unique or new about these shades. Three of them are red, one is gold and one (not shown) is bright orange. But I definitely think they fit Marilyn Monroe’s style to a tee. I mean if this was a collection of green and blue polish it wouldn’t be very true to how she actually was.
So here goes!
Flaming Rose
Flaming Rose is a bright red creme with a bit of pink undertones. Clean, crisp and classic. Two coats.
Stage Red
Stage Red is a deeper more blue-based red creme than Flaming Rose. Very shiny and two coats.
Vintage Vamp
Vintage Vamp is a deep burgundy red creme. I used three thin coats to get this totally opaque.
Rich, Rich, Rich
Rich, Rich, Rich is a medium gold metallic. Super shimmery and it has kind of an antique gold look to it. This was my favorite one and it was two coats.
Availability: MAC.
Pricing: $17.50 for 0.34 oz.
Are these shades you would pick up, or are you feeling “been there, done that”?
-Kelly
Note: MAC is not cruelty free.

I like Rich, Rich, Rich but that’s because I’m just beginning to collect some gold nail polishes š For the rest I’m pretty sure I already have dupes!

I like Rich, Rich, Rich, but nothing really inspiring to me in general.

Looks like a fitting color selection for this collection! I probably won’t be getting any of these, despite the cool packaging, as I have plenty of reds already!

gorgeous!!! ā„ā„ I love all of them!
You’re right, nothing new under the sun. But, I guess I would pick Flaming Rose, is my favourite shade of red, and, well, I think I’d choose to buy it not because of the shade, but because Marilyn is such an icon!
I like “Rich, Rich, Rich”, but the reds I already have in my collection. Nothing new there.
Sorry but I think these are boring!

I agree with you, Kelly — these may not be the most unique shades, but they definitely are very “Marilyn”!
I really like Rich, Rich, Rich! I have a lot of similar reds, so those would be a pass for me. They are beautiful though!

The golden one perhaps. Because I love gold and Marilyn.
I think stage red and vintage vamp are my favourites, but I agree they aren’t the most original. I tend not to buy reds or even burgundies and they would be a nice addition to my polish collection, but for $17.50 it’s a lot just to fill a hole in my collection. I think these will appeal to people who don’t own a lot of polishes and love Marilyn Monroe, so would appreciate it for its packaging.
How was the application? Better or worse than other comparable products?

not that unique especially for the price
As snobby as I sound, yes, I’m having a ‘Been there. Done that.’ feeling with these, unfortunately. They could’ve been more creative, but I get how they wanted these polishes to be classic, much like the essence of Marilyn.

I’m always disappointed with Mac’s formula so it’s a pass for me. I really like Rich, Rich, Rich but not enough to buy it.
Stage Red looks PERFECT. Wow…
Rich rich rich is my favorite too
