We all know by now that nail art is a huge, HUGE trend right now. Secretly (or maybe not so secretly), I have always been jealous of all those wonderful bloggers out there who do nail art so well. Actually I am jealous of ANYONE who has any artistic talent, because I am lacking in that area. 😉
But I have been feeling more crafty lately and wanting to try and get more into it. So I figured I would start small and see where that takes me.
This Halloween dot mani was inspired by this post on Chalkboard Nails. I love polka dots on pretty much anything and everything, and lucky for me, they aren’t too hard AND I already had a dotting tool!
For this mani I used Milani High Speed Fast Dry Nail Lacquer in Jiffy Orange for the base. I used two thin coats and allowed it to dry for about 10-15 minutes.
Then I placed a few drops of Wet n Wild Fast Dry Nail Color in Ink Well on a piece of wax paper. I dipped the larger end of the dotting tool into the black and placed random dots on the tip of the nail. I flipped the tool over to the smaller dot size and did the same thing, moving down my nail.
Then I placed a few drops of Milani High Speed Fast Dry Nail Lacquer in White On The Spot onto the wax paper, and repeated the same process as I did with the black.
Some of my dots aren’t perfect, but I like the way it ended up looking. And the fun thing is you could do this with just two colors or 5 or 6 or whatever you wanted. Easy as pie.
I bought this dotting tool awhile back at Sephora. It was fairly inexpensive and has two different sized “dots” on each end which makes it more versatile. You can also use it for marbling.
Hope you enjoyed. Here’s to hoping I can get the nerve up to try harder techniques!
