This fall Urban Decay is giving us new designs for their Complexion Primer Potions in Pore Perfecting and Brightening & Tightening.
These now come in an easy tube with a needle nose style tip.
The Pore Perfecting Primer Potion is great for oilier skin, but can be used on dry skin also. It’s infused with Olea Europaea (fancy for olive oil fruit) for conditioning and hydrating skin, and Dimethicone, a silicone that fills in fine lines and pores, and gives you a matte finish. The texture of this is really velvety and soft.
The Brightening & Tightening Primer Potion is perfect for all skin types and helps hydrate and plump skin using hyaluronic acid filling spheres, lychee extract, peptides, vitamin E and deep sea active ingredients and algae. This formula is made to be brightening, so it’s not matte, but also not greasy feeling or looking.
Brightening & Tightening, Pore Perfecting
As you can see, the Brightening & Tightening Primer is white when it comes out but turns completely invisible.
Pore Perfecting comes out a nude/beige shade, but turns invisible as well once blended.
I tried both of these out under foundation and over moisturizer and here’s what I found.
Brightening & Tightening did help blur fine lines and fill in pores, making them less obvious. For the record, when a company claims that their product shrinks pores, ignore them. NOTHING will actually physically shrink your pores. But you can make them less noticeable with primers.
Ok back to subject at hand. I did notice a slight brightening effect with this one compared to the Pore Perfecting one, but it was subtle. It wasn’t so much brightening as it just seemed my skin looked more dewy. I liked it but wasn’t in love with it. I didn’t like the way it felt on my skin for some reason. Maybe a little oilier than I prefer.
My experience with Pore Perfecting Primer was much better. I tried it over the new Naked Skin Foundation. This primer definitely felt like it blurred lines and filled in pores better than the other, and my skin felt nice and velvety. It gave me a soft matte finish. When I added the Naked Skin Foundation over it, my skin looked great! Very smooth and soft. It lasted all day, and I never really needed a touch-up at all.
By the way, my favorite way to use the Naked Skin Foundation now is over a moisturizer with SPF, then primer, then I stipple it on with the moistened Beauty Blender Sponge. Excellent results that way, and you can build it up easily.
Overall: I like the Pore Perfecting more than the Brightening & Tightening one. The one thing I am not loving is the price for the amount you get. It’s a little on the steep side compared to some other primers.
Pricing: $31.00 for 0.94 oz.
