Illamasqua has a new limited edition nail varnish collection out called Rubber Brights. This collection was inspired by the dominatrix rubber boot girls in the 1920’s in Berlin. Gotta love where they get their inspiration!
Rubber Brights features six new shades with the matte rubber-like finish: Nurture (candy apple green), Optimist (warm yellow), Aorta (scarlet red), Devotee (candy pink), Serenity (bright turquoise) and Prosperity (rich purple).
I really like this finish. It’s not a flat matte, and has a slight sheen to it. You don’t need a top coat otherwise it will look like like a regular finish.
Aorta is a bright red. It’s not really a unique shade or anything that amazing except for the finish. The consistency is like any other Illamasqua varnish – in other words, fabulous. It’s easy to work with, creamy and smooth. This was two coats waiting about 30-60 seconds in-between. The varnish looks shiny when first applied but then after a couple minutes dries with a satin-like look.
To see some other Illamasqua nail varnishes with this finish, see my previous post of the Theatre of the Nameless collection.
Pricing: $14.00 for 0.5 oz.
So what do you think about the rubber-like finish? I personally prefer it to a regular matte.
Note: Illamasqua is cruelty free.
