Tarte has some new goodies out for this fall that are all aimed at getting our skin as smooth as we can with no creases.
Creases are kind of the bane of my makeup existence. It happens to all of us eventually…the fine lines start creeping in and BLAM, everything creases. Or you happen to have super oily eyelids (I sure do!) and BLAM your eyeshadow creases.
A couple of the new items Tarte has are Maracuja Waterproof Creaseless Concealer (comes in 5 shades) and Clean Slate 360 Creaseless 12-hr Smoothing Eye Primer.
Concealer in Light, Primer
Maracuja Creaseless Concealer is formulated with marcuja oil, which is supposed to improve skin texture and moisture content, while also helping to brighten and create a dewy finish. It also contains fatty acids and vitamin C to help moisturize, replenish and repair skin.
It’s a fairly thick liquid concealer, but has a soft and velvety texture. You only need a very small amount and it blends out a long way. Of all the concealers I have tried to date, this is one of the top 5 in terms of texture, coverage and how creaseless it actually is. I tried it out and applied a thin layer over my MAC Fast Response Eye Cream (as I always do) and it lasted a couple hours with no signs of creasing at all. After a few hours it was just a little creased, and a small pat of the finger blended it out.
The fact of the matter is if you have lines around your eyes and put any product on top of them, it will eventually settle in. It’s a reality I have been fighting for years, but that’s what I have experienced after trying probably about 35-40 concealers!
Clean Slate 360 Creaseless 12-hr Smoothing Eye Primer (quite the mouthful!) is not only an eyeshadow primer, but also can be used under the eye as a concealer primer. It contains natural beeswax to help make it waterproof, and vitamin E which acts as an anti-inflammatory emollient.
I didn’t realize it could be used under the eye as well as an eyeshadow primer, so when I tried it out, I tried it as an eyeshadow base. The formula is clear and just the one shade. It goes on smoothly and dries quickly. When worn as an eyeshadow primer it lasted on me about 4-5 hours with no creasing. Not horrible, not great. I always compare everything against Too Faced Shadow Insurance, which lasts 10-12 hours on me so this isn’t as good for me as that one.
But I am curious now how well it works under the Maracuja Creaseless Concealer, so I’ll be trying that next!
Availability: Tarte and Sephora.
Pricing: Concealer ($24) for 0.42 oz. Primer ($19) for 0.30 oz.
What do you think about calling products “creaseless” is that risky? Would you try either of these?

Note: Tarte is cruelty free.

I really liked the eyeshadow primer. Maybe we just have different eyelids lol! I didn’t realize that its good for under eye. I usually put the remainder under my eye. So sweet!

Yeah my shadows without any primer will crease within an hour usually. Super oily I guess!
i got the eye primer in the little 3pack sampler from Ulta with 2 foundation primers. i like it and haven’t experienced creasing with my shadows but i still favor UD PP.

I like UDPP also, but the Too Faced a little more because I find shadows easier to blend with it for some reason.
It’ll be interesting to see if they really are ‘creaseless’. Whats your favorite primer?

I mentioned it in the post 🙂
That you did! Sorry. =)

I’ve got a sample of the eye primer, and every time I use it I think “butter”, because it just melts into my skin. Of the natural primers I’ve tried, this one is my favorite. But like you, Too Faced Shadow Insurance is my HG eye primer.

I’d love to hear how it works as an undereye primer. Please keep us posted. 🙂
Tried it yesterday, no better for me. :/
Four or five hours of wear is rather disappointing for an eye primer. As for the concealer, they all crease on me after a couple of hours unless I set them with primer so that wouldn’t be a big deal for me haha
The concealer sounds good as an under eye concealer. I haven’t found a liquid concealer that is pigmented enough so this one sounds like a good option!

omg the packaging for the concealer is so cute 🙂
I’ve been curious about the concealer for a while now, but my usual concern is shade. Since this comes in a “fair” shade one lighter than the “light” that you tried, I’m encouraged!
I love it. I needed something exactly like this. 🙂
I very often skip undereye concealer because it always makes my eyeliner smudge! I might need something that can be used to prime my eyes for concealer, so this is worth a look-see!

Have you tried setting your under eye concealer with a bit of powder? I always find that works to keep concealer in place and to keep eyeliner and mascara from breaking down.
I need to try this concealer again. I bought it almost a yr ago when it was a QVC exclusive. I found it was filled with hydration which is good for me as I need that in the daytime as well as nighttime around my eyes. But, I think I need to try it again and not use my normal daytime eye cream as I had this migrate a lot and the coverage was less than I wanted. I had bought right before this, the Tarte Amazonian clay concealer and LOVE, LOVE it. It does not move at all, does not settle into my lines and works well with my day time under eye cream. I SWEAR by my eye lid primer I have used for years and also come back to when I try others because nothing holds up nor matches my tried and true eye primer made by Garden Botanika. It has beyond a cult following.
I love this concealer. It’s replaced my other favorite and I use it daily. I mix it with a drop of eye cream for under my eyes but don’t need to on my face.
Thanks for the review. I have several of their Maracuja products including the pure pressed oil (which I love!). That concealer looks really lovely. I will be needing some new concealer soon. May have to pick this up.

Interesting how the eye primer can be used under the eye, too. I haven’t heard of any under-eye primers before, but it sounds like a good idea. I don’t wear concealer under my eyes, but for those that do, it sounds like the primer may help keep everything looking fresh for longer.

I was excited about the shadow primer until you said it only lasted 4 to 5 hours. 🙁

yeah I crease within an hour if I don’t use primer, sometimes as bad as 20 minutes. TFSI is amazing for keeping it all in place.
This sounds like a really great concealer.
I’ve never tried Too Faced! Going to check it out!
I never thought about using a primer under my eyes. Thanks for the tip!
Wow! Over 30 something concealers?! Going to give this one a shot.
I am curious though, you mentioned “top 5” concealers. If you don’t mind me asking, what were the other four?
Thanks for the review!
I like the Urban Decay 24/7 stick ones, theBalm TimeBalm, a Bobbi Brown pink brightening one and…hmm not sure what else off the top of my head!
