New this summer from NARS is Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. This isn’t just any old tinted moisturizer though, this sucker packs a punch with a Broad Spectrum SPF of 30 (active ingredients are Octinoxate and Titanium Dioxide).
Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer comes in nine shades and is oil free, synthetic free, fragrance free and non-comedogenic. There are a couple interesting ingredients in it (Kopara and mineral rich sea water) which are supposed to help keep skin hydrated, and give your skin a soft smooth appearance.
Since it’s a tinted moisturizer, it gives you a somewhat sheer layer of coverage, but does help to blur pores and blemishes a bit.
I tried in in the second to lightest shade (which I almost always am no matter what brand) called Alaska. It’s a light shade with pink and yellow undertones.
It feels silky on the skin, not sticky or heavy or greasy at all. There is really no feeling that you are wearing sunscreen either, which is a good thing. It blends in nicely and does a good job of leaving my skin slightly dewy (it does have a very slight “radiant” shimmer to it, but super subtle) and not dry. I really like the finish although I did apply too much around my nose area at first and I did notice the finish a little more than I prefer.
Wearing Alaska over my daily moisturizer with SPF
So when I did a wear test I still wore it over my standard SPF 30 moisturizer. The reason being that you would have to apply A LOT of this to get the full SPF coverage you should have on your face. So I always, always still use a plain ole SPF/moisturizer combo under any makeup.
It wore pretty nicely but after maybe 4-5 hours I did see some shiny areas mainly down the center of my face. No biggie, most facial products do this halfway through the day for me.
Overall: I like it for a lightweight tint. It definitely is a pretty light coverage so I might sometimes wear a primer under it for a little “extra” coverage. I do like the slightly radiant finish, I prefer that over a matte for sure!
Pricing: $42.00 for 1.9 oz.
