As I sit here doused in the scent of Benefit’s new See & Be Seen Sasha fragrance I am transported to another time and place. The time is somewhere mid century, and the place is the sultry Egyptian desert. I am wearing a white linen dress and tan leather sandals…
Just kidding.
I WISH I could be that poetic about fragrance, but I’m not. But the scent is absolutely wonderful nonetheless!
Sasha is one of the new lovelies who sits on Crescent Row. She comes in a box decorated like an art gallery. Her top notes consist of orange flower absolute, apricot and pink freesia. Her middle notes are ylang ylang, tiare flower, white peony and jasmine sambac. The bottom notes are crystal amber, liquid musk and vanilla.
Fancy stuff! But what does my sniffer sniff?
I definitely smell jasmine and peony the strongest, which is interesting considering those are middle notes. I also get the pink freesia and some musk in there. Maybe ylang ylang. I am no a perfume sommelier! 😉
What I like about this scent is that it’s neither too flowery or musky. It’s not too “summery” or too “fall”. It feels really like the kind of scent that doesn’t have a definite season. It’s floral but not girly floral.
Does this make any sense?
Now I just need to actually remember to put it on in the morning! 😉
Availability: Benefit and Sephora this July.
Pricing: $36.00 for 1.0 oz.
What kinds of scents to do gravitate towards in the summer? Do you own any of the Benefit Crescent Row scents?

I love Mad as Birds by Darling Clandestine and I Smell Like a Witch by One Hand Washes the Other!

Love those names!
I mainly tend to go with whatever scent the body butter of the day I’m using has. It’s usually one noters, such as pineapple, vanilla/brown sugar, coconut, etc. Today it’s a really subtle aloe and green tea scent.
I have to be careful at my workplace to not wear anything too obvious. I’m in and out of hospitals a lot (for work), which usually have a policy against perfumes.

Ah yes that makes sense. There was a woman at my old job who every afternoon sprayed something in her cube and it permeated the whole area. It wasn’t pleasant!
I wear light perfumes all year, now my favorite is Eau So Fresh from Marc Jacobs. Last year was Clinique Happy Heart!

I love Happy Heart!
As someone who is super sensitive to fragrances, I find myself going back to the same one over and over. It is called Sarong made by Theme Fragrance. It is amazing. Everywhere I go people ask me what it is.
I prefer using the same thing everyday, it’s “my scent”. 😉 And it’s Be Enchanted by Bath & Body Works, although I own most of their entire signature collection, this one I continuously buy. (:
I love too many fragrances to be tied down to one, but my “signature scent” is one I created with the help of Marliss at Skindecent. It’s called Treefrog Jammies, and it’s a blend of green notes and lavender.

I love your initial description haha! This perfume sounds interesting, I may have to check it out the next time I’m at Sephora. I really only wear the perfumes from LUSH, I have a lot of special edition ones I select from. I am really loving the new bodyshop body sprays too.
Not to be a total buzz kill, but doesn’t Benefit sell in China? I saw on the “Benefit Around the World” part on their website they opened their first counter in Shanghai in 2007 (meaning they would have to adhere to China’s animal testing policies?)
Hmm not sure I didn’t know about that.
i like to wear scents that are really citrus-y but i have a hard time finding a perfume that smells like that. i did find one that was suposed to smell like freshly juiced oranges but it was way outta my price range( 100 bucks a pop? no way!) its limited edition and it hardly stays on for a hour. so im told. if u know any good smelling citrus scents that arent too expensive could u let me know.
ps grapefruit is my fav. i had a really nice body mist i was in love with a few years ago. it was really cheap. i think it was that bodycology stuff from walmart. i havent seen it in years! if anyone knows where i can get some would they PLEASE let me know? I WOULD B FOREVER GREATFUL!!!
