Here is a sentence I never thought I would say. MAC Mineralize Foundation/Loose covers really nicely and doesn’t look powdery at all.
But wait, let’s back up a minute.
MAC Mineralize Perfectly Finished collection is out this spring and it contains nine shades of Mineralize Foundation/Loose (Extra Light, Light, Light Plus, Medium, Medium Plus, Medium Dark, Medium Deep, Dark, Dark Deep), and fifteen shades of Mineralize Concealer (NW 15, NC15, NC20, NC30, NW20, NW25, NC42, NW30, NC35, NW35, NC45, NW40, NC50, NC50. NW45) .
The Loose Foundation has been around awhile, but the concealers are new.
I’ve never tried this foundation, and I’m not really one to believe that a loose foundation could possibly do anything. I fully, completely expected this to A. look way powdery and settle into fine lines and B. cover nothing and C. add nothing positive to my complexion. But I was wrong! I think I actually said out loud “holy crap” when I started applying it over bare skin.
See how Light is so light you can barely see it? Well it’s perfect for my skin. It felt SO soft and nice going on, velvety. And it really actually covered some of the unevenness in my skin, helped to hide freckles and made my skin looked a lot smoother and nicer overall. The most shocking part for me was there was NO powdery look to it! It was satiny (not dewy at all) but not dry or chalky looking. Didn’t look like a powder product was applied to my face at all. It’s build-able as well, up to about a medium coverage. It doesn’t cover like my normal routine might (sunscreen, primer, foundation) BUT it covered well enough that I would definitely wear it rather than my full three-step regimen on lazier or more laid back days. Pretty impressive I think.

Mineralize Concealer is a medium finish liquid concealer packed with mineral and botanicals. It’s long-wearing and has a natural luminous finish (but not shimmery or shiny). The packaging is a little odd shaped, and honestly I don’t like the brush because you get WAY too much product if you use it straight from their brush. I prefer to dab a little off their brush onto my finger and pat it on that way.
As you know, I have a somewhat intense dislike for most concealers because they settle into fine lines and make me look older the vast majority of the time. These are pretty good though. Not great, not horrible. They don’t settle into my lines, which is the biggest plus. They blend easily and last all day. But they don’t really cover dark areas as much as I would like. Maybe they would cover more if I used a thicker layer, but again, fine lines + lots of concealer=disaster. I like them, but don’t love them.
Pricing: Foundation/Loose is $30.00 for 7.5g and Concealer is $19.00 for 5ml.
Have you ever tried their Mineralize Foundation/Loose before? What did you think?
