And now for the third and final installment of MAC holiday 2011, Ice Parade.
Ice Parade is a collection filled with clear and silver makeup bags, mini goodies, various kits and yes, even eye shadow palettes with an actual silver glitter snowglobe atop them!

Winterscape, Magical Mist, Patina, Buckwheat, Gaelic Gold, Midnight Flurry
Now I have to say I absolutely LOVE the snowglobe packaging here. Super cool and cute and fun. But I wonder if they spent more time making the packaging cool than the eye shadows pigmented?
Winterscape is a pale frosty white/pink. Not great pigmentation.
Magical Mist is a shimmery medium brown taupe with silver sparkles. This had ok pigmentation, not too bad.
Patina is a pale golden tan color. This is the one I had the hardest time getting to show up. Very light.
Buckwheat is a medium warm brown with gold sparkles. This one is gorgeous and pigmented. Love it.
Gaelic Gold is an old gold shimmer. Beautiful color and pretty good payoff.
Midnight Flurry is a dark warm brownish black matte. Horrible coverage and payoff.
There were really only two stand-out shades out of six for me here, which makes it not really worth it in my book. It’s too bad that the rest weren’t as nice as Buckwheat and Gaelic Gold in terms of color payoff and texture.
Iced Delights Nail & Lip Bag in Rocking (sans round clear bag)
Golden Blanket Lipglass
Asiatique Nail Lacquer
Kanga Rouge Lipstick
Golden Blanket, Kanga Rouge
Golden Blanket is a sheer silvery gloss with gold and pink pearl. It looks like of blah in the tube but I really love it on my lips.
Kanga Rouge is a bright amplified red. Gorgeous color, bright and cheery!
Asiatique is a bright red creme color with coverage in two coats. Sorry no swatch photo, but it’s not very unique, though a nice classic red.

Zoom Fast Black Lash Mascara
Zoom Fast Black Lash Mascara
275SE
Taupeless, Celestial Black, Purple Dask, Zoom Fast Black Lash
As you can see I got less than stellar results from the Eye Shadow X 2 palette here.
Taupeless is a pale lavender pink shimmer. This was pale and not very soft or pigmented.
Celestial Black is a deep blue/black with red pearl. The pigmentation was pretty awful with this. Patchy and washed out. You can barely see the red pearl once it’s transferred to my hand. Very disappointing!
Purple Dash is a medium warm purple. This is a really nice color with great pigmentation.
Zoom Fast Black Lash is a nice, jet black mascara.

Make It Perfect Brush Kit Mineralize
The Make It Perfect Brush Kit in Mineralize comes with four mini duo-fibre brushes including the 187SE, 130SE, 286SE and 282SE.
Both the 130SE and 187SE felt very soft and pretty nice to the touch. Great for on the go! The smaller ones, 286SE and 282SE didn’t feel as soft and the brushes seemed a little cheap with some wonky fibres sticking out.
I love the glitter handles I have to say, super cute.
Generally the smaller MAC brushes aren’t as good a quality as the full sized ones, so keep that in mind. They can definitely be handy for short trips though!
Overall:
My overall feeling of what I saw from this collection was disappointment. While I LOVE the snowglobe, I didn’t feel what was inside was a cool as what was outside. I did like Golden Blanket Lipglass and Kanga Rouge Lipstick, but I don’t know if they are really that unique. I was definitely the least happy with the Eye Shadow X 2 palette.
Availability: Now.
Pricing: Snowglobe ($38), Iced Delights Nail & Lip Bag ($36), Iced Delights Eye Bag ($45), Make It Perfect Brush Kit ($49.50).
Anything you see here you like?

I was going to comment on how much I wanted that red lipstick and then I noticed it’s Kanga Rouge and am happy that I do have it from when it was released with Dame Edna. Love it!

This is definitely a bum collection in my mind- aside from the glitzy snowglobe, I think the packaging looks cheap, and the colors are totally standard “Holiday” fare. There’s nothing original or intriguing about red & golds this time of year- sure, they’re classics, but that’s not really what we look to MAC for, is it?
The packaging is cute but I think other collections are better than this! Was gonna consider buying the brush kit but since it’s not that good i’ll pass … Thanks for your review!!
I saw those snowglobe compacts online the other day and was SO tempted — but, as usual, they each contain maybe two colors I’d actually wear. Plus from your swatches it looks like the quality of the shadows is pretty poor. Such a shame, because that compact is just mercilessly fantastic. Would buy it in a flash if it were one of those deals where you buy the empty package and then buy shadow pans separately to fill it. Oh well.
WOW, loving the Make It Perfect Brush Kit Mineralize! <3
Golden Blanket is soo pretty!

Golden Blanket is gorgeous on you! I’m not too big a fan of Lipglasses and definitely don’t need another red nail polish, but I’m still tempted. Thanks so much for the swatches and review!
I loved your macro photo. It’s fun to see Snowglobe up close!

The brushes are my favorite part. Those handles are awesome! Disappointing that the brushes themselves are sub-par, though.

Can you swatch the red lipstick under golden blanket? I’m curious if I should order the combo. thanks for your site!
The packaging is cute. I doubt if I’ll buy anything. Nothing really stands out for me. Do love the brush handles.
I actually ended up getting the snow globe palette you have here because of the gold lol. Don’t think it was worth the $38 since I only liked about half.
I got the snowglobe pallette, and it was my first MAC purchase ever. After hearing so much about how amazing the pigmentation and staying power was, I was so dissappointed. I love the colors, but I will be sticking to Urban Decay from now on.
I love the snowglobe packaging… but the brushes look cheap to me.

I have all 3 brush sets & am now on a hunt for a brush roll to store them in/travel with. I hate when my brushes rub against each other, and the bag seems like it would be a pain to clean.
