NYX has a new line of nail polish out called Advanced Salon Formula Nail Polish. It comes in an astounding 144 different colors, including 10 different nail treatments.
This polish seems to be very pigmented and shiny, at least from the six they sent me to review. I was really pleased with the formula on all of them!
Lime is a bright yellow based lime green with multi-colored shimmer. Wow this color is totally stunning! It’s really bright, really lime green and the shimmer just adds something a little extra for fun. This was just two coats.
Maroon is a deep purple red with multi-colored shimmer. Totally gorgeous and glowing. Perfect for fall I think! This was also just two coats.
Be Jeweled is a medium blue base jam-packed with blue, green and gold glitter. This is SO PRETTY in person you must see it. I love that the base is really nicely opaque and it’s so incredibly glittery! This was two coats.
Souffle is a dark chocolate brown with multi-colored shimmer. I adore the color but did have some small issues with the formula. I didn’t wait very long in-between coats so I got some major cuticle drag (ring finger mainly). Mostly my fault but this formula seems to be a little thinner and I needed three coats for total opacity.
Enchanted Forest is a green base with heavy gold and green glitter. Another total stunner! Love how sparkly and shiny this color looks. This was two coats but I could have used three really to cover nail tips a little more.
Midnight is a dark, vampy red shimmer with a blackened effect. So shimmery, so glowy and so shiny. Love it, especially for fall and winter! This was two coats.
I think these are great! I love the formula and really loved all of these colors.

Now let’s talk about the elephant in the room, as it were. The bottle shape looks familiar, no?
They are extremely, extremely similar to Deborah Lippmann’s bottles. In fact there are only really small differences in the actual bottle between the two. The NYX bottles are 0.52 oz and Lippmann’s are 0.50 oz.
The bottoms of the bottles are slightly different. Lippmann’s has a lower and more rounded ridge groove on hers. And obviously the labeling is very different.
The rounded edges on the top/sides of the bottles are slightly different which you can see from this angle.
The most obvious different between the two bottles are the caps. NYX is longer and cylindrical and glossy with their logo on top.
Here you can see the top edge of the NYX bottle is slightly more square and has more of a “cut edge” on it, and on Lippmann’s, it’s going down at more of an angle.
So I am interested in hearing your feedback on the bottle shape AND the colors. Does it bother you that they are so similar or do you like the colors enough to not really care?
