New at Sephora right now is the Nails Inc. Special Effects Holographic Glitter Top Coat in Electric Lane. Whew, that’s a mouthful!
This polish is a clear base with tiny holographic glitter inside. I love a good holographic top coat because it changes any color of polish you put it over, and it’s so simple and easy to use.
The formula is great, thin but not watery, and it has a pretty strong holo effect! It does have a mildly gritty texture when dries, but nothing a good top coat won’t fix.

Electric Lane
Here I have Electric Lane on it’s own with nothing underneath. You definitely do not need two coats to create a really good holographic effect, but I used two here anyway. As you can see it’s a very fine glitter.
Electric Lane over Kensington
As you can see this obviously comes to life when used over another color, especially a dark one. It’s super shimmery and holographic. Love it. I do wish it was about half the price though, I feel like $10.00 is too expensive for this.
Availability: Sephora. If you are looking for the 20% Sephora F&F code this year, it’s a little different. You have to email them here and request your specialized code. You can do that up to 5 times per household as long as you use a different email address each time. The sale ends Nov 2, 2011.
Pricing: $10.00.
What do you think about Electric Lane?

I like it, but it’s too similar to other holo glitters that I already have.
Thank you for the Sephora info! I just got a gift certificate for them yesterday so this will be awesome with that. Now I have to figure out what to buy within the next couple of days though. There’s so many things that I want.
I love the top coat, but i feel you can find some spot on dupes that cost a lot less. your pictures make me want to wear a holo next!
Looks a lot like China Glaze Fairy Dust to me. Super pretty, but I own Fairy Dust so I think I’m good 😛
Looks a lot like China Glaze Fairy Dust to me. Super pretty, but I own Fairy Dust so I think I’m good 😛 It did remind me that I should pull that out more often, I don’t really wear it much.
It is kinds weird to see the US bloggerss watching Nails Inc – glad it has finally made it across the pond, some of their colours are great. You’d like Battersea Power Station which you can still get on ebay if you’re lucky.
I like the sparkly holo effect it adds to the base color! However $10 is a bit too much for me. I have some cheaper holo top coats e.g. from Essence, that look similar to this Nails Inc one.

I love holo top coats. And I seriously love what you created with it. Still, ten dollars seem a bit much for it. Then again, I love the look because the glitter is really fine, so if I have the chance I just might buy it.
Yes, very pretty. But $10 is too much for my blood.

I do think I have something like this one already, but it is pretty! I love glitter!
But yes, $10 is a bit too much
Without being able to do a side by side comparison, this holo top coat looks a lot like Wet ‘n Wild’s Kaleidoscope. A bit better on the wallet too.
Maybe you can shed some light on that? Just curious.

Hey Kimberly! I think Wet N Wild Kaleidoscope has some bigger glitter in the mix. I’ve been lemming for it since I saw the post on Nouveau cheap :)! So wet n wild is cheaper and I think it’ll look better as well :)!

Hi Kimberly,
I haven’t yet swatched Kaleidoscope, sorry! Soon, soon!
Nice amount of holo in the polish. I believe I have other holos that are much cheaper.
i have to agree with the other commenters here…to charge $10 for a smaller size of something you can get for $5-6….what are they thinking?
i went to Sephora a few weeks ago and just to see Nails Inc nail polish & they were all “ehh” to me specially this one i think its way to much like China Glaze Fairy Dust which i already own 2 bottles off. LOL hopefully the magnetic ones come in soon! 😀
I agree with everyone else who mentioned that for less than $10, you can find a good alternative to this. Still, I like the shape and design of the Nails Inc. bottle. Hehe, a superficial reason.

For anyone looking for a similar (& cheaper) scatter holo topcoat, Out the Door makes one called Northern Lights. It’s a little over $5 and it needs to be shaken every time it’s used, but it works great! 🙂
I got mine at Sally Beauty.
I’m late in my comment but here it goes: Yeah, $10 is too much for what basically comes down to glitter. Someone mentioned Northern Lights which I own and is quite great. And for $5 at Sally’s it’s a nice alternative.
