Laura Mercier has a collection out called Flawless Face. It includes four products all aimed at helping you achieve your most flawless skin.
- Foundation Primer – a clear gel that comes in five different formulas and helps prime the face for longer lasting foundation.
- Creme Smooth Foundation – a hydrating foundation in a pot that helps smooth fine lines and is build-able to give you the coverage you are after.
- Secret Camouflage – a palette containing two oil-free, long wearing concealers colors that you blend together to create your perfect shade.
- Invisible Loose Setting Powder – a translucent oil-free and talc-free loose powder with a soft focus finish.
I tried the Oil-Free Foundation Primer, which is colorless and really liked the way it felt on my skin. It feels really moisturizing and glides on the skin with no tugging. It doesn’t feel greasy (hence the oil-free part) and doesn’t feel sticky or strange sitting on my skin.
It also definitely helped blur out my pores and blemishes slightly, and is a great base for the next step!
Creme Smooth Foundation
The Creme Smooth Foundation comes in a pretty good array of shades, eleven total. The one I tried out is the second lightest called Warm Ivory.
As you can see it comes in a pot and has a somewhat thick and creamy feel to it. The product goes a LONG way, which is great. You only need a little bit and you get good coverage all over. I tried applying it two different ways to see what the differences would be.
First I used my fingers and blended in. It does blend in easily and feels kind of thick to the touch. It took a bit of time to get it as perfect as I wanted using my fingers though.
The next day I used a moistened sponge to stipple it into my skin and found that was the best way. I got a really nice even coverage, and it felt like it melted into my skin.
The coverage with this is build-able. Both times I tried it I just used the one layer and found that to be really perfect for me. It covers enough of my blemishes and unevenness to make my skin look much better, but not so much that I felt like I was covered with makeup. It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and actually lets my freckles show through on my nose, which I don’t mind. I don’t feel the need to look like a mannequin. 😉
The foundation lasted a solid 10 hours with no issues other than having to blot a tiny bit around the nose/forehead/chin area maybe 5 or 6 hours in. Really nice foundation!
The Secret Camouflage palette comes with two shades inside, and in seven different colors. The one I tried out is SC-3, which is the second to the lightest color.
The two shades in each palette are meant to be blended together on the back of your hand to create your perfect color.
It’s no secret that me and concealer do not play nicely. 95% of them settle into the fine lines under my eyes within minutes. This one actually does last longer on me than most, but I just applied the tiniest amount and set with powder. I did get a small amount of settling after a bit though.
The colors do work really well together and definitely help conceal dark shadows. It feels nice and not too heavy or thick.
Invisible Loose Setting Powder
What I adore about the Invisible Loose Setting Powder is that it’s super fine and so soft and colorless. The packaging is great also!
It comes in a container that has two sides in the lid. You can turn the little plastic lip inside to reveal tiny holes where the powder comes out. Then you can turn it back to close it so you don’t get spills. Great!
This powder really helps set my foundation and keep “the oilies” at bay. In fact I have been using her Secret Brightening Powder for a couple years to set my concealer and it’s really fabulous, and this is very much like that powder. It contains light-reflecting spherical silica powders that help create that soft-focus appearance that we all love.
