Elf has a whole bunch of holiday goodies out at Target right now and I recently picked up a slew of them. Yes that’s right, a slew! 🙂
The eye palettes they have include the Smoky Eye, Everyday Eye, Glitter Eye and Natural Eye and I bought all four of them since they were just $5.00 each!
The Smoky Eye palette contains 12 eyeshadows (9 powder, 3 cream), a small eyeliner pencil and applicators.
When you open the palette up, like a book, there is a plastic sheet that is attached and covers the shadows. Under that you have the shadows, mirror, etc. On the left side is a pretty cool instructional guide on different ways to use the shadows.
The first color is a pale matte vanilla color
The second is a shimmery medium blue with slight yellow overlay
The third is a deep matte blue
The fourth is a deep blackened blue creme
The first two colors in this row were pretty opaque and felt really soft. The dark blue shadow and creme shadows seemed a bit patchy and kind of “meh”.
The first color here is a very light shimmery muted pink
The second color is a shimmery mauve color
The third color is a shimmery purple
The fourth is a deep aubergine creme
I had the same experience with these as the top row. The deeper colors and cremes seem to be patchier and not as opaque as the lighter colors.
First we have a light shimmery taupe
Second is a medium charcoal grey shimmer
Third is a deep matte black
Finally we have a dark grey creme
Again same thing, the first two were good quality, the second two not as much.
It’s about what I would expect for a $5.00 palette. There were some good colors and shadows, and some not so great.
Have you picked up any holiday items from Elf?
